The Borough Office has been receiving calls related to various voting concerns. Northampton County Drop Box Locations: 1) Bethlehem City Hall's Plaza Entrance (10 E Church St, Bethlehem, pa. 18018) from 8 am until 4 pm, Monday through Friday.... 2) Northampton County Government Center (669 Washington St, Easton, Pa. 18042) rotunda from 8:30 am until 8 pm, Monday thru Friday, and on Saturdays from 8 am until noon. 3) Northampton County's Human Services Building (2801 Emrick Blvd, Bethlehem, Pa. 18020) from 8:30 am until 7 pm, Monday through Friday. 4) Northampton County's 911 Center (100 Gracedale Avenue, Nazareth Pa 18064), from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. These locations correspond with the four county districts. Free parking is available at all four locations. Each drop box is monitored by surveillance cameras and will be emptied daily by Deputy Sheriffs who will be sworn in and will also complete daily forms to preserve the chain of custody. The ballots are delivered to the Registrar, who will secure them in a locked vault until election day, when canvassing can begin. All of the Borough’s polling places will be open for in person voting: 1st Ward Weona Park Community Center-25 S. GEORGE STREET TRUCK ISSUE UPDATE Borough Council wanted you to know that it is continuing its discussions with Senator Scavello’s office, PennDOT, Plainfield Township and Techo-Bloc regarding the ongoing issue with trucks utilizing George Street. Recently, we were made aware of some legislative changes at the State level that might provide PennDOT officials more discretion in imposing a tractor trailer truck restriction on George Street within the municipal limits of both co...mmunities. Both Plainfield Township and Pen Argyl reached back out to PennDOT for assistance in a solution to prevent the recurring incidents of property damage and the intervention of the Slate Belt Regional Police Department and other first responders. One of the issues brought up by PennDOT representatives was that the creation of a truck restriction to solely George Street may present unintended consequences in terms of causing trucks to attempt to enter other narrow roads located in Pen Argyl. PennDOT suggested a traffic study for a good portion of the Borough in order to restrict truck traffic in the entire sector below S.R. 512. (very costly). The communities have reached out to Techo-Bloc representatives who have instructed their haulers (mostly independent haulers) who miss the truck entrance to continue to the Capitol Plaza to turn around, unfortunately some continue to go down George Street. The Borough and the Township will continue its efforts to mediate this issue. See more

Slate Belt Regional Police Officer Jessica Muccione is shown here modeling the newest accessories to the SBRPD Officer's uniform. Above her nameplate is a Brea...st Cancer Awareness pin in honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month. Also, the department recently upgraded the officer's body worn cameras to the latest technology available. If you see an officer out and about, ask them about their uniform, after-all, they wear the tools of their profession proudly. See more

The Lookout Fire Co. in Pen Argyl will be holding a Fire Protection Open House on Monday, October 5th from 6:00 8:00 p.m. They are located at 123 S. Main Street right across from Weona Park. Fire equipment will be on display and there will be free fire prevention handouts and light refreshments available. The event will be held primarily outdoors and CDC guidelines will be followed. Those attending are asked to wear a mask and follow all CDC guidelines. Feel free to bring the entire family for an educational experience!
