On this day in 1977, the iconic movie Slap Shot was released! A majority of the movie was filmed right here in Johnstown, Pennsylvania at the historic Cambria County War Memorial (now 1st Summit Arena). Slap Shot was directed by George Roy Hill, written by Nancy Dowd and starred Paul Newman, Michael Ontkean and many former Johnstown Jets’ players.
