Melasma is a common, but tricky skin-condition to manage. Melasma presents itself as large patches of brown skin on the face. These patches often appear on the forehead, around the eyes, cheeks and upper-lip. Although this is a genetic condition, it is most affected by sun, hormones, and stress.... Because there is such a delicate balance between treating the pigmentation and worsening it (one misstep can quickly flare-up Melasma!), Melasma patients need to be handled very carefully. This lovely lady came to see Raelle, frustrated about the dark-patches surrounding her eyes. (She had initially thought it was a reaction to an eye-cream she had been using.) Raelle took the time to explain what was really happening with her skin (#melasma) and the best ways to start clearing it. By strictly following Raelle's advice and skincare regimen, within 2-months she was able to drastically clear up the unwanted skin discoloration that was plaguing her. (Even though it was the end of Summer, she was excellent aboutavoiding any controllable Melasma triggers; such as keeping her skin safe from the sun by diligently wearing sunscreen and a hat.)
