Join us for our third drive thru pet pantry! Pet owners in need of dry dog or cat food simply drive up, and volunteers will load food into your car for your pets while supplies last! This pantry is made possible by Chewy, PetSmart Charities, 1 Love 4 Animals and everyone who purchased cat food on our pet pantry wishlist! They say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure... Each year, ACCT Philly takes in thousands of cats, many of whom have lived their life outside and aren’t really adoptable. A decade ago, these cats would have simply been euthanized, but thankfully that’s changed. Now shelters, including ACCT Philly, embrace trap, neuter, return (TNR). We recognize that there are wonderful community members who feed and care for these cats. However without spaying and neutering, t...he population of cats will continue to grow, leading to more cats and kittens who arrive at ACCT Philly in need of help. Since March, we’ve taken in more than 1,100 kittens under 4 months old Trapping, neutering and returning cats to these communities is the best way to prevent their numbers from growing while also preventing more kittens from entering the shelter. As a result, these cats now have the freedom to live healthy and happy lives. So this week, we partnered with #CatTrappers215 to trap 44 cats in neighborhoods we receive the most cats from. What does it take to trap, neuter and return 44 cats? Check out the video and see! We’re excited to announce that this is the first of what will be monthly targeted trapping efforts. Read more about this new project here: http://bit.ly/ACCTOperationHelpCats Want to help? If you have unowned cats in your neighborhood, you can either make an appointment at ACCT Philly to have them spayed/neutered or you can get them spayed/neutered at PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society), Forgotten Cats or The Spayed Club Veterinary Clinic using our vouchers! Today is Subaru of America,'s Make a Dog's Day, and Ladii would for someone to make her day. Ladii has spent 103 days at ACCT, and prior to that, spent her four years outside in a crate Given what she's been through, it's amazing she's so silly, affectionate, loyal and loving. She rides well in the car, going for nice long walks, and more than anything loves just spending time with "her" person. Ladii has been through a lot, and as a result she does need an experienced home and someone who will give her the support and patience she needs. Ladii's challenge is that she becomes afraid around strangers, and gets protective. Her ideal home would be a quiet home with one or two adults and no other pets. Interested in Ladii? Please message us and we'll connect you with her ACCT Pen Pals! Let's Make Ladii's Day and find her a home!

A great start to a Wednesday! Last night, Max got out through a tiny gap in the fence of his yard. His owners frantically searched for him until 1am but no luck. Both owners came to the shelter first thing to see if we had him - and we did! Our Animal Protection Officers picked up Max last night! Max is now back with his family and two canine pals (and clearly has #noregrets by the look on his face) and his owners will be getting them microchips too incase they ever get l...ost If you have a pet, please have them microchipped and make sure it's registered! You can register your chip for free at https://bit.ly/3n2GbYM If you have lost your pet, please don't give up, keep checking! Here are more tips: http://bit.ly/ACCTLostPets If you've found a pet, please make sure to have them scanned for a chip and file a found report so that if there is an owner searching for them, they can be reunited. http://bit.ly/ACCTFoundPet

It’s #nationalvettechappreciation week! Our vet techs and nurses do so much that no social media could adequately express all that they do. But we will try! As an open intake shelter everyday we don’t know what to expect. But that’s especially true for our vet techs and nurses. They do everything from assisting during surgeries, examining new animals (from the scaly to the furry!), drawing blood, medicating, caring for neonatal kittens, monitoring pets with extra needs, preparing special diets for pets who need it, triaging injured animals that come in, entering all the records to go with their duties - and so much more. They are rockstars! We are so grateful to them for all they do please thank them too if you see them or in the comments below!

Straw isn't just for Halloween - it's for helping community cats! Thanks to a generous donation from Judy at Garoppo Feed & Pet Supply in New Jersey (and transport help by Shauna from PURR) members of the community who care for community cats can pick up a free bag of straw from ACCT Philly! Just stop by while we're open (10-6 daily) Straw provides excellent insulation for cat shelters (unlike hay - hay is food and gets moldy!), and these cat shelters are very easy to mak...e. Not sure how? Just check out the video here: http://bit.ly/CatShelterVideo Have community cats in your area that aren't spayed/neutered? Need to borrow a trap? Check our ACCT's TNR services here, including information on our free voucher program! http://bit.ly/ACCTTNR credit of adorable cats (and an opossum) enjoying shelters to our friends at Kolony Kats

Help needed We've been very fortunate to have received significant dog food donations from Chewy and will be hosting TWO more drive thru pet pantries in the next few weeks. However we don't want to limit these to dogs. We've barely been able to get enough cat food and litter to serve our regular pantry clients, in addition to the more than $20,000 of support we've given other area pet pantries. So we're asking for your help. If you can, please consider purchasing some cat food and sending it our way so that we can ensure drive thru participants with cats can get food too! You may also drop off unopened bags of cat food and litter at our shelter. Purchase items off of our Amazon wishlist (Don't forget to be using Amazon Smile when you do it! ) http://bit.ly/ACCTPetPantry

Big news! Thanks to We Rate Dogs, one of our long timers, Max, found a wonderful home! Max was surrendered in early August at 9 years old He had trouble adjusting to the shelter and did not like other dogs, which made him harder to place. But after We Rate Dogs featured him earlier this week, he caught the eye of Jennifer who had been looking for the right dog. I just knew he was the one she told us This morning she drove 400 miles one way from Albany to get here when we opened at to meet Max - it was an instant connection. Max is headed home now and we’re so happy for both of them!

Meet Meow Mix. Meow Mix came to us after hours as a stray, having been found suffering from injuries consistent with a dog attack. With the shelter closed when she came in, years ago this would have meant euthanasia. But thanks to the Stella Fund, we were able to instead say yes to getting her the care she needed. But it's extensive. She was rushed to Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center where she was hospitalized. Today, she will be getting surgery to repair a trauma...tic tear in her abdominal wall, and either repair or amputate her leg which was badly fractured. The cost of saving her life? $6,539. She's otherwise a healthy 2-3 year old cat and with your help we're able to make sure she has a happy and healthy life ahead of her. Please consider making a donation to the Stella Fund to help her and cats like her. http://bit.ly/ACCTStella We also couldn't help cats like her without fosters! If you can, please sign up to learn more about fostering and join our family of lifesavers http://bit.ly/ACCTFosterSignUp
