The Allegheny Community Center announces that the VITA Tax Program has been cancelled for all VITA sites in Warren and Forest Counties due to closures as recommended by the Governor. All senior centers in Warren and Forest Counties continue to be closed for public programming while the counties are in the yellow phase. This also includes no availability for in person assistance to complete Property Tax/Rent Rebate applications. Consumers can go to irs.gov for free federal tax... software for online filing or they may download forms for filing paper copies themselves. PA income tax forms are available at https://www.revenue.pa.gov/FormsandPublications . PA Property Tax and Rent Rebate forms are available at Experience, Inc., the Warren - Forest Area Agency on Aging (814-723-3763) or in the lobby of the Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark Street, in Warren. You can also access them online at https://www.revenue.pa.gov/FormsandPublications.

Sponsor A Senior Home Delivered and Congregate Meal Program As you may know, all Senior Center activities have been suspended in Warren and Forest Counties during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Area Agency on Aging is continuing to provide Home Delivered Meals as well as five frozen takeout meals to senior consumers at centers every Thursday. These takeout meals can also be delivered to consumers in Warren and Forest Counties. The demand for these meals has increased and there ...are now around 2,000 meals a week being provided to senior consumers. The suggested donation to consumers for these meals is $3.00 per meal but even that is sometimes difficult for many older adults. Therefore, the Area Agency on Aging is asking for help in providing these meals to those who need them. For your $15 donation The Sponsor A Senior Program can provide five meals to a needy senior. Donations can be sent to Experience, Inc, 905 Fourth Avenue, Warren, PA 16365. Or you can visit www.experienceinc.org and donate on the agency’s website. The VITA Tax Preparation program has been suspended at all locations as long as the Governor has declared a stay-at-home order. The IRS has extended the filing deadline 90 days. PA Property Tax and Rent Rebates deadline for older adults and Pennsylvania residents with disabilities to apply for rebates on rent and property taxes paid in 2019 has been extended from June 30 to Dec. 31, 2020. According to the irs.gov website the distribution of economic impact payments will begin in the next three weeks and will be distributed automatically, with no action required for most people. Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file to receive a payment. Instead, payments will be automatically deposited into their bank accounts. See more
