We will be at the Ship Market this Thursday, 3:30 - 6:30! In celebration of #NationalFarmersMarketWeek we will have our observation hive filled with live bees (safely behind glass). Come see if you can spot the queen! We will feature black locust honey harvested from our hives on fellow vendors Cherry Grove Farms. The market will feature more vendors than normal. The spring harvest is here! We will have our spring black locust / wild flower honey products available today at the Ship Market! Please note that honey comb products are available in extremely limited quantities! First come, first served. See you there!

With the weather this year many of the bloom dates for major nectar sources are delayed by as much as two weeks. Black locust is a major player in May for honey bees. These trees usually bloom the 2nd to 3rd week of May. I just saw the first trees blooming in my area today. This hive is going crazy strong! I added two honey supers today but the other 5 boxes are already full. I'm pulling out all of my tricks to keep them from swarming. I had to lift that last box over my head!
