**Window Safety Funds Available For City of Allentown Property Owners** In June of 2019 the City passed an ordinance requiring landlords to install window guards in all windows if a child 10 years or younger lives in or spends considerable time in the rental unit. To support the implementation of this ordinance, the City of Allentown Health Bureau has obtained a grant from the Highmark Foundation with funding to reimburse property owners in the City of Allentown for the purc...hase and a fixed rate for the installation of pre-approved Window Opening Control Devices (WOCDs). A property owner or manager is eligible to receive funds for a maximum of 15 windows on the second floor or above across multiple properties. Applications are available in English and Spanish for download here(https://www.allentownpa.gov//Injury-Pr/Window-Safety-Grant). All applicants must also download the Approved Devices document as well as the accompany Window falls Safety sheets. All applications must be submitted in person to the Allentown Health Bureau at 245 N. 6th St, Allentown. NEW, FREE (paid for by state) COVID testing site at Drive thru pharmacy in Whitehall Walmart. Opens 8/5 Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7am to 9am. Patients must register for an appointment here: www.MyQuestCOVIDTestPA.com. The patient should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to their appointment time. The patient will drive up to the pharmacy location, the pharmacist will confirm their information and send the specimen collection supplies through a pneumatic tub...e. The patient will do a self-administered nasal swab and place the specimen inside a lock box. Patients receive their results through the Quest portal and/or a call from their telehealth partners. The Bureau is accepting appointments for Childhood Immunizations for Allentown children who are uninsured or have Medicaid insurance. Preference will be given to those students who need vaccinations to return to school. Parents/Guardians need to call 610-437-7760 to schedule an appointment. One parent and one child is allowed per visit due to COVID-19 restrictions. Translation services are available. Parents who have access to primary care providers/pediatricians are encouraged to contact those providers to schedule appointments well in advance of the upcoming return to school. The Bureau is also accepting appointments for city of Allentown residents who are uninsured or underinsured only for Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) testing /treatment. Preference is given to symptomatic patients. Call 610-437-7760 to schedule an appointment. Proof of residency is required. Translation services are available. Guests are not permitted to accompany patients.
