Allied Services Hospice & Palliative Care 01.01.2021

Our deepest sympathies are with the Dramisino family especially beloved wife Ellen and daughter Lauren. Angelo Dramisino, the Hideout, Lake Ariel, passed away at Allied Services Hospice Center after an illness. His wife of 25 years is Ellen Dramisino.... Born 1963 in the Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of Pietro Dramisino and the late Letizia Marino Dramisino. Before his illness, he had been employed by Geneva House, Scranton, as a building superintendent. He was of the Catholic faith. Also surviving are his daughter, Lauren Dramisino; his sister, Carmela Kelly; and several other family members. Angelo had a deep love for his family, especially his daughter, Lauren. His love for her was unwavering and had no boundaries. He would do anything for her. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in the St. Thomas More Church, 105 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, by the Rev. Stephen Stavoy. Friends may call from 9 until time of service at the church. All CDC guidelines will be strictly enforced, including the mandatory use of facial coverings and proper social distancing. Please be prepared to pay your respects in a timely manner while refraining from physical contact. Once you have paid your respects, it is kindly asked that if you are staying for the Mass, to take your seat or we respectfully ask you to exit the church. In lieu of flowers, Angelo's daughter Lauren (13) has set up a GoFundMe page to receive donations, where she will give 100% of proceeds to families that are struggling with cancer and its treatment costs. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kopetz family. Leon Kopetz of Mountain Top passed away Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, at Allied Services Meade Street.... Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Leo and Helen Kopetz. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and had a passion for cars and Lionel trains. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Rita Kopetz; sons, Leo Kopetz Mountain Top; and Christopher Kopetz and wife, Tracey Kopetz; and granddaughter, Grace, Bear Creek; sisters, Doris Vancavage, Mountain Top; and Dolores Kulig, Toms River N.J. Donations in Leon's name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org/donate. Funeral services will be held Wednesday in St. Jude's Church. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. McCune Funeral Service is assisting the family with the arrangements.

We were honored to provide comfort care for this Veteran in his time of need. Our deepest sympathies are with the Steve family. Joseph G. Steve Sr., 94, of Exeter, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at Allied Hospice Unit, Scranton.... Born in Swoyersville, he was the son of the late John A. and Susan Kender Steve. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving his country. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society at the former St. John the Baptist Church, Pittston, where he also belonged to their bowling league. Mr. Steve was an accomplished musician and played the drums in various bands. He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish at Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston. He was employed as a machinist for the Ashley Tool and Die Manufacturing Co. for years. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Anna Danko, in 2003; and a son, Joseph Jr., in 2005; a brother, George J. Steve; and a sister, Anna Miller; son-in-law, Jack Niemi. Surviving are his children, JoAnn and her husband, Richard T. Harding, Brick, N.J.; Judy Niemi, Wilkes-Barre; Helene Steve, Scranton; and John, Exeter; grandchildren, Melissa Harding; Joseph Steve; Kimberly Cochrane; Keith Upschulte; Jonathan and Marissa Steve; also great-grandchildren, Tyler Cochrane; Jonathan, Eli, Lucas and Emma. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from Gubbiotti Funeral Home LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Corpus Christi Parish in Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston. The Rev Paul McDonnell, O.S.J., will be celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Swoyersville. In an effort to cooperate with public gatherings, we ask that everyone please wear facial coverings and follow social distancing practices. Born in Scranton, son of the late George and Barbara Scherer, he enjoyed working on vehicles, watching the Steelers and spending time with his family.... He is survived by his loving family, Melissa and Clifford Hollister, Covington Twp.; grandkids, Clifford, Tiffany, Corey, Collin; great-grandchild, Payton; siblings, Frank and Alene Scherer, Pine Grove; Kathy and Stanley Berkosky, Taylor; Marybeth, Taylor; Jane and Bob Waltkins, Scranton; Dennis Scherer, Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews. Our team was honored to have been able to provide comfort care for this Veteran during his time of need and extend our sympathies to his children, grandchildren and siblings. Edward "Turk" Tanski, 69, of Moosic, passed away on Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, at Allied Hospice Center, Scranton. He was born in Scranton June 12, 1951, and was the son of the late Peter and Eleanor (Corcoran) Tanski.... Turk attended Scranton High School and then joined the United States Army at the age of 17. He served in Germany during the Vietnam War. During his time enlisted in the Army, Turk received many awards relating to his sharpshooting skills. He was discharged from the Army in 1971, obtained his GED and went on to graduate cum laude from Lackawanna Junior College with an associate degree in science. He was the vice president of the Lackawanna Jr. College student government evening division and was involved in the drama club at LJC. Turk retired from Topps Chewing Gum with more than 26 years of employment. There he was the team captain of CPR training and safety, and because of his training, he was very proud of putting his skills into action by saving a man's life at the Eynon Drug Store. Turk was an avid outdoorsman and received numerous awards in hunting and fishing. Turk also served as a past Master Mason of the Moosic Masonic Lodge, 664 F&AM. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Linda J. (Collins) Tanski, who died Nov. 27, 2019; his son, Edward Tanski Jr.; brothers, Wayne and Peter Jr.; and his sister, Beverly Vohar. Turk is survived by his son, William and his wife, Cindy Tanski, Moosic; daughter, Lori Ann Berti and her husband, Joseph, of Pittston; and sisters, Eleanor Cosmark of Taylor, Ann Thiel of Scranton and Helen Svetlovics of Scranton. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Edward Robert Tanski III, Michelle Irene Berti, Joseph Luciano Berti, and Jessica Lynn Berti; his great-grandchild, Alex S. MacRae; many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Private services will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont, with private interment services at the Langcliffe Cemetery, Avoca. Our thoughts and prayers are with Helen’s family as we were honored to provide comfort care for our friend and former colleague. Helen Harmer, 66, of Scranton, died Monday morning at Allied Services Hospice Center.... Daughter of the late Bruno and Bernice Gursky Macavage, she attended Scranton public schools. She worked for various local firms including Grove Textiles and Allied Services before retirement. Helen enjoyed playing cards, word puzzles and listening to her favorite oldies music. She loved spending time with her family and pets, especially Molly. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her friends and family for her wit, jokes and sense of humor. She leaves behind a son, Charles and wife, Michalle; two grandchildren, Scarlett and Violet; two sisters, Ruth Catalano; and Penny Nemeth and companion, Frank Wrona, with whom she resided; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernie Macavage and Joseph Macavage. A private viewing was held at Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton. Our hospice team is humbly grateful for the kind words about compassionate & loving care, in Barbara’s obituary. Barbara A. Foote, 65, of Mayfield, died Sunday evening at Allied Hospice, Scranton, after a brief illness. Her husband of 43 years is Donald Foote.... Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Stanley and Carmella Tolerico Tomcykoski, she was a 1972 graduate of Lakeland High School and a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Carbondale. She also worked in the garment industry. The family extends its sincere appreciation to the Wright Center staff and her various doctors, Commonwealth Regional Hospital, Allied Skilled Nursing and Allied Hospice for the compassionate and loving care given to Barbara during her illness. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Corey Foote, Archbald, a member of the Carbondale Area faculty; three aunts, Roseann Burns, Josephine Tolerico and Sadie Tomcykoski; several cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and close friends. She was preceded in death by several cousins, aunts and uncles who she was extremely fond of. The funeral will be Monday from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Twp. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing are required. Conversations should be limited to allow those in attendance to have an opportunity to offer condolences. A waiting time may occur before entering the funeral home. Our deepest sympathies are with the Turco family, after Joann spent a lifetime of caring for other as a nurse, we were honored to provide comfort care for our former Allied Services home health colleague. YATESVILLE Joann (Mascelli) Turco, 69, a resident of Yatesville, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born Oct. 31, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Enrico and Pauline (Alfonso) Mascelli.... Joann was a 1969 graduate of Pittston Area High School. She attended Pittston Hospital School of Nursing to pursue her lifelong dream of helping people. Joann worked at the former Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, where she made some of her closest friends. After a fulfilling career in nursing, she retired from Allied Home Health Services. Most recently, she was employed by JSB Financial LLC. Joann's greatest treasures were her grandchildren. She loved attending all their sporting events and spending quality time with each of them. She enjoyed carrying on family traditions and always looked forward to holidays with her entire family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Salvatore Turco, the love of her life. Surviving are her daughter, Jennifer Gronka and her husband, Michael, of Yatesville; son, John Widdick and his wife, Leslie, of Pittston Township; stepchildren, Charlene Turco, of San Antonino, Texas; Charlie Turco and his wife, Lee, of Boca Raton, Fla.; Salvatore Turco and his wife, Meg, of Virginia Beach, Va.; Mary Arellano and her husband, Sergio, of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Carol Havard and her husband, Jeff, of Old Boston; Diane Hillan and her husband, Joseph, of Glen Lyon; grandchildren, Loren, Halle, and Sophia Gronka and Beau and Milania Widdick; stepgrandchildren, Grady and Maddox Turco, Alex and Faith Turco, Lilianna and Dominic Arellano. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Allied Hospice Services and to Geisinger Henry Cancer Center for the compassion they have showed over the years. Our team was honored to provide comfort care for this Veteran in his time of need. Our deepest sympathies are with the Perko family especially wife Gloria of nearly 40 years. Charles (Perk) Perko passed away on Friday at Allied Hospice Scranton after a short illness with cancer. He was surrounded by family and his wife, Gloria Korman Perko. They celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on Aug. 15.... Born in Madison Twp. on Aug. 22, 1949, he was the son of the late Charles and Thelma Webster Perko. He was a graduate of North Pocono High School. He served in the United States Navy. After serving in the Navy, he was a welder for 20 years, where he received many awards for his work on the titan missiles. He then became a state correctional officer at SCI Dallas and SCI Waymart, where he later retired from. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He was well-known for his sense of humor and quick wit. His friends described him as outgoing, fun loving and quick to help anyone. His loss will leave a deep sadness on all those that knew him. In addition to his wife, Gloria, He is survived by his loving children: son, Steven Perko, Scranton; stepdaughter, Tara Shenko Kelley, Carbondale; stepson, Michael Korman and fiancée, Julie Drazba, Clarks Summit; grandchildren, Alyssa Korman, Ryan Kelley, Brendan Kelley; James Kelley and fiancée, Salina Santiago; great-grandson, Kye Kelley; sisters, Judy Garbellini, Theresa Fox; Mary Shock and companion, Shawn Erfman; sister-in-law, Theresa Korman; uncle, Clifford Webster; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Perko. His family will forever be grateful to Dr. Nicholas Dodge and Sandy, Allied Hospice and staff, Jerry Bojarsky and Mary Jane Korman Kopa for all their help.
