Happy Friday! These are just two out of the 10 planes it took to deliver 5,500 surgical gowns from Wings Field to GPW Health Center in Manassas, VA yesterday. We could not have done this without the volunteer pilots who took time out of their day to make it happen. #MissionMonday Sometimes it takes a village to coordinate pick up for needed PPE. Today we received 6,300 surgical gowns, provided by Stronghold Care, that will be delivered to GPW Health Center and Community Health Clinic, Inc. this week. #MissionMonday AFE teamed up with Angel Flight Soars to help Raymond access his medical care at Lysosomal and Rare Disorders Research and Treatment Center - LDRTC in Virginia, 600+ miles away from his hometown of Fort Payne, AL. AFE volunteer pilot Wil joined our team back in 2017. He has volunteered his time and airplane 40 times to help families access medical care far from home, as well as transport PPE to healthcare facilities in need. Most recently, he flew 4,200 face shields from Wings Field to Lancaster, PA for distribution at Keystone Health Center, Family First Health, and Lancaster Health Center. He even went as far as hand delivering the shields to two of the locations. Stephanie from Key...stone Health Center said- Thank you for thinking of Keystone! It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of AFE pilot, Denis. Denis selflessly volunteered his time and airplane multiple times to help families access critical medical care far from home. Please keep Denis’ family and friends in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Yesterday, we partnered with LifeLine Pilots to help this little guy get to his medical treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Two-year-old Aiden was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma on January 31st, 2019. His family lives in Indianapolis, 700+ miles (one way!) from Aiden’s medical care in New York. Thanks to AFE pilots Scott and John for taking away the stress of travel for this family. AFE has continued to partner with the Virginia Rural Health Association to fly personal protective equipment to healthcare workers on the front line. Most recently, AFE pilot Ken delivered PPE to Crossroads Medical Mission, a free clinic in Abingdon, VA. Thank you Ken! www.angelflighteast.org

Wings Field received a mini upgrade over the weekend thanks to local Boy Scout Troop 24, specifically Matt I. who has been fundraising and working to complete this Eagle Scout Project for the past few months. Bystanders will now be able to comfortably sit to watch planes take off and land. We think it even looks like a great lunch break spot Congrats Matt and Troop 24 for all the hard work to get this done!

We partnered with Angel Flight Soars to help fly 13 year old Isadri home to Atlanta, GA after her treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. AFE was happy to provide face shields to a team in West Virginia at the health department who are ramping up community testing in rural and hard to reach areas. This was a special flight because Darynann, receiver of the supplies, brought her 8-year-old son Mason, who is a big fan of planes (and trains)! When we told Darynann, AFE pilot David listed Mason as his co-pilot, she said That just made Mason’s day! He jumped up and down, gave me a high five, and said that pilot is... the best!
