Chef Bill, our new Executive Chef, did a wonderful baking demonstration for us in the bistro earlier this week! He made cranberry orange cookies that were so delicious, people are still talking about them! As a plus, the whole building smelled heavenly. #sodelicious #remarkableimpact

Just as social engagement brings with it a host of health benefits, social isolation can have a negative impact on wellbeing. In addition to feelings of loneliness and depression, isolation is correlated with cognitive decline and can have harmful effects on those with dementia. A new study by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) found that nearly one-fourth of adults aged 65 and older are considered socially isolated. At Anthology Senior Liv...ing, we are dedicated to fostering the warmth of community. We offer safe activities that support the social, emotional and cognitive health of our residents and create opportunities for connectedness. During National Alzheimer’s Awareness Monthand in this COVID-19 era when social isolation is top of mindAnthology will be providing tips on how to combat isolation by emphasizing social and cognitive engagement. Stay tuned this month for socially-themed thought leadership from Anthology Senior Living. We are here for you and yours.

It is our absolute pleasure to meet, work with and help so many residents and families. It is always such a joy to know that we have made a remarkable impact on a resident/family's lives, especially when they do the same for us each day. #remarkableimpact

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a theory proposed by Abraham Maslow, often referred to as the father of the humanist psychology movement, in 1943 in a paper titled, A Theory of Human Motivation. His hierarchy of needs is most often depicted in a pyramid that suggests one’s base level needs must be met before an individual can move upwards towards the higher order of needs. 1. Physiological Needs food, water, air, and homeostasis which are essential for survival 2. Safety N...eeds security, protection from danger, health, well-being, physical and economic safety 3. Belongingness and Love Needs sense of belonging, social connections, relationships, activities, spiritual, sports, community associations 4. Esteem Needs -appreciation, respect (outer and inner), recognition 5. Self-Actualization Needs fulfilled potential, being the best you can be What does this of all mean? People are motivated to fulfill certain needs, and some needs take precedence over others. Basic needs need to be fulfilled first, and lower level needs arise from deprivation. Needs become increasingly complex as you move up the pyramid, and higher-level needs arise from a need to grow as a person. Visit us at Anthology Senior Living and let us show you how we incorporate our care with Wellness Dimensions and each Hierarchy of Needs to create the next chapter in your wellness story.
