Interesting Ethical Question: Do you think that there should be different treatments for guests with different spending power? Why? The average answer is: No! Everyone should be equal. But no good company actually does this. Here is the truth:... Guests with different spending power should initially be treated the same, and then they should be treated differently/rewarded, catered to as part of a program for referrals, special discounts and follow ups. Spending power is not a socio economic class it’s a function of loyalty to the vision, and execution of your team. You should look for, nurture, and utilize your true fans based on their appreciation of your hospitality. Anyone who suggests otherwise is not thinking clearly about the need for appreciation and belonging that runs up and down the structure of a bar. Owners need to feel they are changing lives, customers want to feel treasured. The dialogue between the two throughout time is the lifeblood of a bar, and the essence of hospitality.

This spring, FG employees made their wa...y to Philadelphia for a mixology event at the Aqua Vitae Institute for a hands-on cocktail making class with some of the area's best bartenders. In addition to learning how to make specialty drinks, attendees were taught unique bartending techniques, how to pair drinks with food, ratios needed to make a drink taste great and much more! If you’re in a bad mood, there’s only so much you can do to fake it, and your customers will know! Showing up early, doing something physical everyday, doing something meditative everyday (setting up your mise and calmly juicing those limes count), making sure the macro and micro nutrients in your diet are on point, and wearing clothes that look and make you feel great, are all part of hospitality. Remember to be #selfish and #treatyoself ! It’s very important for bartenders, the ultimate people pleasers, to love and care for themselves first!
