Ashborn Sport Horses

Officially introducing the newest addition to ASH’s lineup. Shackled Romance, Romeo, is a 4yo off track thoroughbred adopted through TRRAC - Thoroughbred Retirement, Rehabilitation and Careers. Romeo joined us in the beginning of September but he will have the winter to let down from the track and grow up a bit, as he’s almost 17hh at only 4! You can see the difference just two months has made for this big baby. Special shout out to Purina Horse Feed for their Feed Greatness Challenge for helping this big guy bloom

Nothing beats a sunset at the barn

Did You Know Most (but not all!) horses drink significantly less water in the winter which increases their chance of colic. Most horses also drink more if the water is tepid to warm, even though they will almost exclusively choose to drink lower volume of cold water if given the option. At Ashborn we address this with a warm mash of soaked hay cubes. A tasty treat that helps hydrate and doesn’t interrupt their carefully constructed diets. Our horses definitely appreciate it
