TEACHABLE Tuesday... Corn! Did you know there are 3 different major varieties of sweet corn? Standard (su), supersweet (sh2), and sugar-enhanced (se). Much or most of the corn fields you see are not sweet corn and either "our foods food" or going to be processed into something not even food related.

Thoughtful Thursday... If a woodchuck could chuck wood... Would that just make it a land beaver?

What's up Wednesday! Rain and late season gave me time to start preserving today. This is my current favorite tomato the black krim. It is an heirloom so what it lacks in looks from the outside it makes up for what's inside. (Personally relatable!) Today it's future pizza suace!

TEACHABLE Tuesday... Succotash and 3 sisters. What does that mean? The three sisters are squash, corn, and beans. They support each other in the field to grow. In the kitchen they come together again to make succotash. In the correct ratios it contains all the amino acids of a meat. It can be delicious but "suffering succotash" refers to falling on hard times when you can't afford meat so resort to this cheaper alternative. Also, succotash and the 3 sisters are Native American contributions and was originally known as msickquatash.

Motivation Monday! Waited all day for this one. Sour dough crust, heirloom tomato sauce, topped with fresh local mozzerella, pepperoni, and purple basil. Worth the work!

This just in Purple SWEET CORN! A little bit more starchy than the classic varieties which is why we also have a classic variety as well.
