Once Howard transfers the heel, 1st, quarter, 2nd quarter, 3rd quarter, and end marks, he uses a flexible batten and draws the double taper. He then rough cuts it with a circular saw.

Here is a sample piece Howard Rice ran through the table saw showing two bird's mouth cuts. Each of the eight staves has only one bird's mouth cut. Howard ran the sample piece through twice to gauge the accuracy of the table saw set.

GOOD NEWS - WE GOT THE WHALER BACK! A Presque Isle State Park employee was walking the shoreline early Thursday morning and found BMC's Boston Whaler. The boat was pulled way up onto shore into bushes. I met an Erie Police dectective and a Park Ranger and we hauled it back into the bay. I paddled it to the closest boat ramp, and Howard towed it back home to BMC. The starboard stainless hand rail it was chained to is missing, but other than that it seems operable. We'll see if the engine runs tomorrow. Thank you all for sharing the post about the stolen boat. It had many people out looking for it. Thanks to all the support received from the Erie Police Department, Presque Isle State Park employees, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Border Patrol, the United States Coast Guard, Sedney Enterprises, and all our friends and supporters!
