Pictured below is a life-long friend of mine Jesse Lee Harris (on the right, saluting) during his reenlistment ceremony just a few days ago. This man is courageously fighting ISIS and others, putting his life in danger and he is signing up for more of it. His brothers, David and Dan, also courageously fought multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Jesse, Dan and David are examples of men who take action, and not just speak words. ... We thank the Harris brothers and are proud of them.

I recognize that crime is a problem in Philadelphia and across our Commonwealth and there are many different ideas on the best ways to address that problem. I'm... a member of the House Judiciary Committee where I spoke out against legislation that would reintroduce mandatory minimum sentencing for certain drug-related offenses. There is no evidence that mandatory minimums are effective at reducing these crimes and only handcuff our judicial system, without improving our neighborhoods and communities. There has to be a better way. Please watch my comments from today's Judiciary Committee meeting. See more

Throughout time, the Phillies never really beat the Yankees (the Phils lost both the 1950 and 2009 World Series to the Yanks) and obviously the two teams represent opposite extremes on the success spectrum (Yankees, who are actually a newer franchise than the Phillies have 27 champions compared to Phillies' grand total of 2 in over a century of existence). But at least one Phillies fan got the better of the 1950 Yankees while the teams played just north of Temple U. at 21st and Lehigh Ave at Shibe Park.
