Unfortunately, the 2021 season will also be suspended due to COVID-19 guideline compliance issues. For years the handful of volunteers have operated the aging pool on a tight budget. Relying on revenue from full capacity, low overhead, and just enough paid staff to operate within regulations. This year the CDC has put out guidance to follow. Even with the current 75% capacity, (which could change at any time during the season), we are still tasked with hiring more than doub...le the normal staff to operate. Needless to say this is nowhere within our normal budget. We would also need to upgrade the ventilation to all occupied buildings, which right now is non existent. We also do not have the capability to separate the common areas of our entrance/exit, and snack bar areas to 6ft. After reviewing the many CDC recommendations, and speaking with our liability and worker’s compensation insurance carriers, our non profit board cannot assume the liability of operating outside of these recommendations. We hope to be able to expand our fundraising opportunities this year, in hopes of raising the money needed to make the changes, and meet extra staffing necessary to operate in 2022. As always we thank you for your support. And we are still in need of board members and volunteers to help keep this pool operating.

The Board of the Western Berks Swim Association has unanimously voted to cancel the 2020 swim season due to operational issues resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. As with many community pools, we operate without profit, relying on a full capacity season, and as little overhead as possible. Due to the many unknowns with this virus, we would not be able to finance the staff needed to comply with safety and health regulations. Nor would we be able to allow the number... of swimmers needed to cover the cost of opening. We hope to see all of you next season, and wish everyone a safe and healthy 2020. **If you have day pass cards they DO NOT expire, and will be honored any season. As we do not have any income coming in to pay utilities, mowing, pesticides/insect control, insurance, and the necessary upkeep of off season, we will be having local small fundraisers, as well as applying for grants. And while we can hope we receive funds through these channels, we cannot depend on them. If you are able and wish to support the pool, donations can be made to the Western Berks Swim Association. We are an all volunteer, nonprofit board, who’s only goal is to keep this pool running to serve our community. All donations are tax deductible, desperately needed, and greatly appreciated. Come and find us tomorrow at Mt Pleasant Fire Company’s first Annual Craft And Vendor Fair! We will be selling tickets for our Kauffman’s Chicken Fundraiser being held October 3rd. If you don’t have your tickets yet, stop by and shop to support the fire company, local crafters and vendors, and the Bernville Pool! We will be donating two buckets, with 5 day passes each, to the fire company’s raffle! So don’t be a and miss this event!

Come out and have one last dip before summer ends! Expanded menu : Coney Island style or grilled -burgers and dogs, corn dogs, or dogs w/sauerkraut. And lots of yummy sides : Homemade baked beans w/bacon, potato/macaroni salads, pierogies cooked in butter/onions, and red beet eggs! . All items available for take out. We’ll have the fire pit blazing, roast a dog over the wood fire, toast marshmallows, make s’mores! Open 12pm to 7pm Friday and Saturday.

Join us tomorrow for our last moonlight swim of the season. The water is nice and warm from the heat wave, and the fire will be lit. Hot dogs and burgers on the grill. Chili, cheese, and sauerkraut add ons! Roast marshmallows and make s’mores. Hours are 12:00 noon to 10:00 pm.
