Searching for Ride Coordinators Are ya looking to build community? Interested in advocating for affordable housing in your city? Just want a reason to ride? We are looking for ride coordinators to bring Bike & Build’s new Community Rides to cities and towns across the U.S. ... What is a Community Ride? On a Bike & Build Community Ride, participants hop on a bike and ride throughout their city to meet with housing leaders and changemakers. They'll learn about the challenges their city faces, affordable housing victories, and how they can get involved. Ride Coordinators work with our Program Director to build out the ride and help recruit participants! The role receives a stipend and is a great opportunity to engage in your community. This fall, Bike & Build released Phase I of our plan to move the organization to a more diverse, inclusive and equitable space. We want to keep you updated on our progress: Our partners, Reify Consulting LLC, completed a comprehensive report aimed to capture the current state of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Bike & Build. Check out the report here: https://bikeandbuild.org//u/2021/03/FINAL_BB_BER2021-1.pdf P.S. Thanks to all the alumni who took their time and energy... to complete the survey and participate in focus groups! When completing Phase I of the DEI Plan, the goal was to complete Phase II, involving metrics and goals, by February 2021. When starting Phase II, we quickly realized that the work to create actionable, realistic, and intentional metrics would take longer than anticipated. Over the upcoming months, our community will be updated on the progress of Phase II and the official launch date! Feel free to explore Phase I of the DEI Plan here: https://bikeandbuild.org/about/dei/
The ‘drivetrain’ of a bike is all the gears, cranks, and chains to let you push the bike along. We decided to name our annual fundraising campaign Drivetrain, because the financial support from our communities enables our staff to push our mission forward. Today kickoffs of our 19th year as Bike & Build and we set the goal to raise $19,000 in our 19th year!... Starting today until Sunday, 3/7, the first $1,000 raised will be matched. Help us meet this match by donating today! Donate here: https://bikeandbuild.donordrive.com/index.cfm

Alumni Spotlights Housing Champions Shawn R. (North Carolina to San Diego 2016) | Building Performance Engineer at Group14 Engineering What inspires you about your work in housing?... I love the feeling that I'm making some difference (although it sometimes feels small) in the affordability of housing. We work with affordable housing developers as well as housing authorities to provide energy services and certifications (LEED, Energy Star, etc) How did/does your Bike & Build experience impact your work within housing? Bike & Build inspired me to want to work in affordable housing in my career. I learned so much about affordable housing and the issues facing Americans across the country when it comes to housing, and this spurred a desire to learn as much as I can and commit my career to the advancement of affordable housing. #bikeandbuild #pedalingforaffordablehousing
