Blackberry Run Apiary

Tuesday’s Tropical Storm effected more than just us humans. This tree in Chesterfield Township NJ was the home of a colony of honey bees. I’m trying to rescue t...hem, but the impact with the ground was very destructive to the combs. I tried to salvage the the brood comb but it was was destroyed. I did not find the queen, but there is still hope that she moved into the box. It was unusually that the bees moved into the box , then came flowing out. They formed a swarm over rt. 528. You may have driven through them if you were passing by at the time. The bees then settled back on the box.
