Our hearts have been saddened by the passing of our dear friend Leonard Blud Bludworth. We will miss him dearly. Leonard's Obituary U.S. Veteran ... Leonard Bludworth, of Hempstead, TX died in his home, surrounded by his family on July 2, 2019. He was 78 years old. Leonard is survived by his wife, Suzanne of Hempstead, TX; brother John Bludworth and wife Karla of Hockley, TX; his children Lenore Long and husband Michael of El Lago,TX, David Bludworth, also of El Lago, TX, Donald Bludworth of Leakey, TX, Susan Roberts of Aransas Pass, TX and Lisa Hartley and husband Michael of Cleveland, TX; his sixteen grandchildren; his twenty-three great-grandchildren; and his bonus children Bo and Alexandra Anderson of Rolesville, NC and Mandy Anderson of College Station, TX. He is preceded in death by his first wife Janice Marie Bludworth of Leakey, TX; his sisters Carolyn Herrera, and Patsy Bludworth; his grandchildren Joshua Van Leuven, Jeremy Van Leuven, Steven Long and Misti Hicks; his parents Georgia and Jay Leonard Bludworth, Jr. of Houston, TX. Leonard was born on October 5, 1940 in Houston, TX to Georgia and Jay Leonard along with his four siblings. Leonard spent most of his youth working in the shipyard with his family and sailing. He married Janice Marie Lorance in 1960. The couple welcomed five children while he transitioned from ship builder to famous cue maker. Janice passed away in 2006 after a brave battle with cancer and Leonard found love again and married Suzanne Anderson in 2007. They had many happy years in Leakey, TX where they opened and ran a restaurant in Leakey and then retired again in Hempstead, TX where he lived the remainder of his years. Some of his many accomplishments included membership in the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, inductee to the International Cuemaker Hall of Fame and recipient of the Cuemasters World Championship People’s Choice Award. While owning and operating the Leakey Feedlot, with second wife Suzanne, the restaurant was featured in both Texas Monthly and Bon Appetit magazines as one of the best café’s in Texas. Leonard passed away peacefully in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be remembered as a jokester, a mentor and an overall good friend to many. A private memorial gathering is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to the American Cancer Society. https://www.meaningfulfunerals.net/obitu/leonard-bludworth
