No more lugging linens to and from my house. Doing hours or laundry a week! These linen get delivered right to me. Clean, sanitized, and pressed. When I go home, I'm done work. So you get a more rested and self-care focused massage therapist! I'm so giddy and excited about this move. And as an business owner, I feel like I've FINALLY made it. Check out my stories to view the whole video! What do you do that gives back to your mental, physical and spiritual body? What could you invest in that will pay you back in more mental clarity, more energy, more compassion for others, and more strength to stand up for yourself?... There's more than a hundred ways to accomplish this in your life. It could be: The gym Meditation Journalling Regular massage and bodywork Eating well A breathing practice A hike in nature Sitting and enjoying the sunshine They don't have to cost money, but they require some form of consistency to be the most effective. Take a moment and think about how you invest in your wellbeing and is it working for you right now. We are constantly changing, and sometimes our practices have to change. But what is always consistent is our need to care for yourself. #massagetherapy #lancasterpa #lancastercity

After my first COVID-19 vaccine, I treated myself to a latte and pasties from @floydscafelancaster. It's my first time at floyd's and it is a great spot. The pasties were the perfect lunch treat. The first bite transported me back in time to when I was 16 backpacking through the Yorkshire dales with my bestie @garnettalice(I think I ate my body weight in cheese and onion pasties). This little city has so much to offer. I'm grateful for the opportunity to receive a vaccine, f...or fellow business owners who meet all with a warm smile and an open heart, for the street performers filling the air with music making me feel like change is coming. It's happening my friends! And until then in each moment there is so much to be grateful for. #lancasterpa #lancastercity #massagetherapist #selflove

More help for your shoulder pain! This time a nice stretch for the biceps. As I said in my previous video, the rotator cuff muscles can often get overloaded and stressed because the main movers of the arm and shoulder are not pulling their weight. So when I'm looking to help people with shoulder pain, I always take a look at how the bicep, tricep, and deltoid muscle are at tolerating a load. Working these tissues as well as your rotator cuff muscles usually gets better and lo...nger-lasting results than only looking at the rotator cuff. Here's a helpful stretch for the bicep muscle. This is especially important if you've hurt your bicep muscle in the past (no matter how long ago the injury happened). Follow along closely to the instructions for best results. Going through the motions won't yield the long-term relief you are looking for. Come to a wall. Place your hand on the wall. Turn your finger inward 90 degrees (Right hand to 9 o'clock. Left hand to 3 o'clock) Take your awareness to the pressure in your hand. Bring most of your weight to the knuckles of the hand (bring the weight off the heel of your hand). This is the most important part!!! Keep the weight on the knuckles throughout the movement. Gently press the finger pads into the wall. Keeping the hand pressure rotate the chest and sternum away from the wall. Rotate back and repeat. If you've been to PT and built decent strength through the arm, but you're still experiencing pain in your shoulder, you may need more coordination training to see improvement. When I look to help someone recover from pain, I don't want to just build strength. I want someone to train there entire body to distribute load and weight evenly. This kind of approach helps not only to GET people out of pain, but also KEEP them out of pain!... No one area is being overloaded. the entire limb WORKS AS ONE. The exercise above is harder than it looks. I have some very strong people shaking like a leaf with this one. It's taxing but it also feels good to feel the coordination of the whole limb. comment below to let me know how you felt with this one

The last three months have been the busiest of my professional career.I've noticed within myself and my clients and community that most people are struggling tomanage their stress. This year demands extra maintenance so we can show up as our best selves and support ourselves as well as our loved ones. I have received many texts, emails, and calls from clients trying to get scheduled and not being able to. This isnot the time to put off your self-care!... Luckily a former student of mine, Daniel Boos was also looking to grow. With Dan's help, Bright Mountain Bodywork is able to provide more evening and now weekend hours. This change does not mean a change in quality. I am committed to creating something special and continuing the same exemplary service of caring touch, an emphasis on YOU as an individual, not as a diagnosis, and quality treatment getting at the root cause of pain that is at the heart of my practice and work. Dan shares my vision of elevating the massage profession and has committed to working closely with me to build his skills to serve you better. If you've been looking for an appointment and haven't found one to fit your schedule or if you've been watching a friend or family member struggle with stress or pain, go to our website and schedule with Dan. I still have some availability in my schedule. If you don't find anything online, just reach out to me directly through email or phone to schedule further out past 4 weeks. But in the meantime, don't let your health and self-care go, schedule with Dan! Prioritize your health and stress level so you can be YOUR BEST for yourself and the ones around you. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions. P.S. Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday. As always, gift certificates are available for purchase in person or eGift certificates through the website. It is not lost on me that while I am expanding other businesses in this community are struggling. It is always important to shop local, but ESPECIALLY this year. Your dollars spent locally will support your neighbors. Buy local! #lanacastercity #lancasterpa

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! This year has forced adaption and change. Today on this day of gratitude, I am especially grateful for all of you! This year has left me and my fellow small business owners rattled and battered.... It's also pushed us to think outside the box be creative and meet your needs in more ways. I want to thank you, deeply thank you for continuing to come and receive work from me, for trusting me, for reaching out during lockdown. It has steadied me during this time. I always brag about my clients and community, and this year really hit home how important you are to me. We need each other. And I'm mighty grateful to have all of you!

A broken toe that never healed correctly left this client unable to run or walk much without shoes for fear her foot would swell and hurt. This may not seem like a big problem, but something that limits your movement absolutely has ripple effects on your life. Low level chronic pain can slowly become worse and cause compensations other places in the body. This can lead to pain in the knee, hips, and/or low back.... This client reached out and asked if #ANF could help. She will need more sessions and perhaps some exercises to help strengthen and rebuild the coordination of the foot and leg, but this is a promising start. If you're curious if #aminoneurofrequencytherapy can help you, please dont hesitate to reach out! #massage #bodywork #lancasterpa #lancastercity #footpain #toepain

Massage student: "My Massage therapist never asks me any of these questions you're asking us to ask." Me: Massage Student: "I just go in and tell them what to work on"... Why would you hire an expert and tell them what and how to do things? One of my missions is to elevate my profession, and when I hear comments like this, I get really upset. Because I teach massage therapists and I practice what I preach, and I hope they take things as seriously as I do. There is no way that I can give a thorough and good massage without asking questions and then trying to understand the multitude of factors that go into pain and dysfunction. I get upset because NOT asking questions does a disservice to our clients and patients. They could feel better faster and understand their body more fully if we only took the time to understand and then teach! On top of that, clients and patients would have a much better, more therapeutic viewpoint of massage. If you're in pain, there's hope. find someone who listens. Who asks questions and is curious. You only get one go around in this body. Find someone who is invested in empowering you! #lancasterpa #lancastercity #painrelief #injury #chronicpain #massage #bodywork #massagetherapist

I've been mostly absent from social media the last few weeks. This was not purposeful but merely a result of being extremely busy in the office and also helping students at the Lancaster School of Massage get to graduation. This is the busiest I've ever been with clients in my office. I'm thankful these people have found me and reached out for help with pain and stress.... I realize more than at any other point in my professional career that people are having a hard time managing stress. This is manifesting in different ways such as increase body pain, decreased sleep, nightmares, fatigue, short tempers, unusual behavior, and the list could go on. This week I was reminded that this stress is effecting me too. I'm waking up tired. Day dreaming for the weekend (which is odd for me. I really enjoy my job). Being short and snippy with my husband, and finding reaching out and talking to my friends too much energy. For ME these things are not normal. Do a mental inventory on yourself. Have you been acting out of character? Really sit and think. The social, cultural, and political stress has been ongoing for such a period that you may have normalized the stress within your body. Conjure a memory of when you felt complete joy. Do you recognize that person now? Now ask yourself what can I easily do to make myself FEEL BETTER. Don't focus on completely better maybe just 5% better. Progress over perfection has been my mantra for 2020. It's not going to be perfect. That's not what I'm going for...just a little bit better than yesterday. Here I am doing chores that I've been putting off. I've opted for no headphones to give my nervous system a break. Just me and birds and crickets. Focusing my mind on the fresh air since the humidity has broken and the sunshine that I dont get enough of. Progress over perfection!

Yea, I'm smiling now, but that wasn't the case on Monday morning. I've been ignoring slight neck pain for about 2 or 3 weeks. Why? Well because it really wasn't stopping me from doing what I wanted and needed to do.... Then Monday morning came. I woke up with intense #neckpain with pain shooting down my arms with certain movements. Because I'm stubborn and don't like to admit that I need help or am in pain (), I suffered through two sessions before I did anything! #anftherapy to the rescue (those round discs on my neck). ANF is hands down the best non-pharmaceutical treatment for inflammation I know of. Within 15 minutes of placing the therapy, I was feeling an ease in the intensity of the pain. 2 hours later, the pain had decreased by 60% I'm now 48 hours in to my 72 hours of treatment. I would say its 90% better. I can work and do things around the house. I've even been hitting some #golf balls with my husband with only some slight discomfort at times. I'll need another round of discs for sure, but more importantly, I can now use my new assessment skills to find out what and why my neck got cranky in the first place. I'm always looking for the root cause not just a bandaid treatment. If I find the weak link, I can work to rebuild it so this doesn't keep happening in the future. Do you suffer from the same injury over and over? Have you been to other health professionals and only recieved short term relief? Comment below or send me a DM. #massage #bodywork #holistichealing #lancasterpa #lancastercity #painrelief #injury #chronicpain @ Lancaster, Pennsylvania
