Many thanks to the good folks with the Delco United group. They dropped off some donuts to us earlier today. I was wondering how they knew it was our favorite snack.

During these trying times we here at the PD are constantly reminded how much those we serve appreciate us. From the donations of masks and hand sanitizer, to the food and drink donations. Today, an anonymous citizen had pizza and garlic bread delivered to us. We are truly grateful for all of the support, even if our duty belts are a little tighter when all this is over. Please continue to practice social distancing and follow the guidance from the CDC and State Department of Health. We are all in this together and each person that follows the guidance keeps those around them healthy as well.

Tips on how to avoid holiday package theft: -Request notifications on your deliveries, via phone or email, to monitor your packages in transit and upon delivery. FedEx and UPS offer services to assist customers during the holidays. -Always require a signature on your deliveries to ensure packages are never left unattended.... -Consider sending deliveries to an alternate location where someone will be able to receive them whether that be a workplace, a neighbor or friend’s house, or FedEx or UPS location. -Set up a vacation hold if you plan on traveling during the holidays so gifts won’t be left on the doorstep. -Be aware of tailgating, which refers to people who follow delivery vehicles and steal packages after they are dropped off. -If you find your package has been stolen, immediately report it to Brookhaven Police. -Never accept a surprise delivery where a payment is required, and never give out personal information when receiving a delivery that you purchased as it may be a scam. -Additionally, any suspicious people or vehicles should immediately be reported to the Brookhaven Police Department by calling 911. Chief Kurten and all of the Officers here at the Brookhaven Police Department wish you and yours a happy and healthy holiday season!

PSA: The Middletown Township Sewer Authority, in conjunction with their contractors, will be working in the area of Chester Creek Road between Dutton Mill Road and Bridgewater Road over the next few weeks. Part of the project involves a subcontractor conducting some controlled blasting of underground rock with explosives in order to facilitate the installation of a new sewer main. The Borough met with all involved parties last week to discuss the planned operations and the i...mpact to residents in the area, including, Chester Water Authority, Sunoco, Brookhaven Fire Dept., Brookhaven Police Dept., and the Borough Fire Marshall. The contractor has complied with all requirements in order to obtain a permit under the authority of the Brookhaven Fire Marshall. As far as what to expect, the contractor advised that any explosive noise will be less than what residents in the area hear coming from Field and Stream in Middletown. Further, the contractor will be utilizing an electric air horn to signal any imminent blasting (three short blasts before, and one blast after). Highway traffic will be controlled and limited during the preparation phases. During the actual blasting phases, highway traffic will be completely shut down. The contractor advised that full closures will only be for short periods, possibly several times throughout the day. The Sewer Authority expects the project to take several weeks. Should residents have any questions about the project, we encourage you to contact the Borough Office as they have all the information on file and can forward any specific questions to the right person.
