SUCCESS STORY: When it came to the hard work and dedication Christopher Mitchell demonstrated during his enrollment in the Introduction to the Construction Trad...es pre-apprenticeship program, his performance wasn't considered just impressive it proved to be award-worthy. After completing the program (hosted by the Builders Guild of Western Pennsylvania) last February with perfect attendance, Christopher ultimately assumed a position in the Laborers Union #1058 and later that year began work with Gulisek Construction Company. By September he logged more than 1,000 hours on the job and was able to move into a new apartment. Most recently as a result of Chris' outstanding performance inside the classroom and on-site, he was awarded the $1,500 Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania CLC Brandon Chaney Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to four of the highest ranking first-year apprentices in heavy and highway apprenticeship programs. We applaud Chris' commitment to his goals despite the complications of COVID-19 and could not agree more with his selection as one of the CLC Scholarship winners!

Our unions built this country. It’s time to rebuild America, using the things we make and investing in the things we do. Superb message from Pittsburgh Works Together member the United Steelworkers.

Pennsylvania has always been an energy powerhouse. The first domestic oil well was drilled in Titusville in 1859. Our coal deposits helped us win world wars, forge iron into steel and power an economic transformation that continues to lead the world economy. Our state remains a national leader with the robust Marcellus and Utica shale reserves in Western Pennsylvania. https://observer-reporter.com//article_6d81f4a8-4cfd-11eb-

Our construction trade unions and the industries they serve, such as manufacturing, energy and utilities, infrastructure development will play a significant role in our post-pandemic recovery.
