Our pocket-pants-palooza (aka Sewing 201) has ended for August and I couldn’t be more proud of these stitchers who conquered skills such as grading seams, understitching, stitching in the ditch, and topstitching elastic. One of them even started her class on March 8 and then had to wait 5 months of Sundays to finish! We announced two new live Zoom classes on Friday and by Sunday they had sold out . So, yeah, we hear you out there wanting to sew from home (!) and we’ve now added new dates for both our Sewing with Knits: Classic Tee class and our Beginner Jacket: Wiksten Haori class. Both are great for new and experienced garment makers alike. The great thing about our zoom classes, aside from a small class size and being able to ask questions to your instructor just like you would in an in-studio class, is that the recording is available to you after class so you can re-watch and rewind if you need some extra help! We’re so blown away and in total awe of these beautiful embroidered portraits @heyhoneyguts shared with us! She took our beginner embroidery class just last year but clearly spread her wings and soared with the eagles . We say it over and over but seeing students go on and do their own thing with the skills they’ve learned with us is 100% the most rewarding feeling. It’s true! We’re masked , we’re sewing 6 feet apart with limited class sizes, and we’re taking things slow and steady, but it’s made our hearts flutter to see people creating in our space once again. While we’ve still got the same great themes and fantastic teachers, we’ve made some changes to keep safe including limited group sizes, personal sewing stations and lots of hand washing and cleaning. We use the Brother 1034D in this course so some of the info is specific to that model, but we cover a lot of general info, too, such as tension adjustments, stitch types, serging knits, serging in the round, taking curves and corners, and some basic troubleshooting.
