ATTN: NESQUEHONING RESIDENCTS SCAM ALERT! On 11/30/2020 A Nesquehoning Resident called the Police Station reporting that an unknown male from a blocked number c...alled them reporting that their grandson had a broken nose and is currently incarcerated. The unknown male was looking for the resident of Nesquehoning to wire them $5,500 for attorney fees to a business called EMPIRE BONDING in NYC. The unknown male said to the resident that his phone number is 978-699-7315. The resident's grandson is perfectly fine and is not incarcerated. The Nesquehoning Police Department is asking that everyone stay alert for these types of Scam calls and also not to give out any personal information. See more

PRESS RELEASE: Carbon County District Attorney Michael S. Greek announces that criminal charges have been filed against Jason Bracero of Jim Thorpe and Christopher Ohl of Lehighton, relating to a bomb threat called in to the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office on October 21st, 2020, which resulted in an evacuation of the Carbon County Courthouse and Annex buildings, as well neighboring businesses. Ohl, who was scheduled to appear at the Carbon County Adult Probation Office for a ...urine test, expressed his concern of failing the test to his co-worker Bracero who offered to call in a bomb threat to the courthouse. Ohl obtained a prepaid phone which Bracero used to make the threat. Cell phone tower data was used to procure video surveillance footage showing Bracero walking away from Ohl’s car with the cell phone that corresponds to the time and location of the call. The District Attorney credits the quick response of the Carbon County Detectives as well as the Jim Thorpe Police Department for developing an anonymous tip resulting in these charges. Greek stated Our detectives were preparing search warrants on a lap top in the county parking during the evacuation. Bracero and Ohl are charged with Felony Terroristic Threats, Threat to use Weapons of Mass Destruction, False Alarms to Agencies of Public Safety and False Reports. Both are currently being held at Carbon County Correctional Facility on unrelated charges. See more
