#MeetUsMondays is a weekly series introducing everyone to the amazing staff at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. Today, let's meet: Sierra Baril! Position: Children’s Librarian Library Branch/Team: Hazelwood How long you have worked for the library: It will be three years in December.... Favorite Book/Author: It changes all the time, but one thing that is a constant is that I have always loved Roald Dahl from third grade on. Song I can listen to on repeat: My favorite album that came out this year was The New Abnormal by The Strokes, and my favorite song on that album is At the Door which I can definitely listen to on repeat. TV Show I recently binged: Ramy on Hulu Odd fact about myself: I know a lot of unusual information about Rasputin, and I love to talk about him. Favorite corny joke: How do you make a tissue dance? Put a little boogie in it! My go-to recommendations: I’m always leading kids to graphic novels when they’re not sure what they want to read. New Kid by Jerry Craft, anything by Dav Pilkey or Raina Telgemeier, The Tea Dragon Society books by Katie O’Neill are frequent recommendations. A food I could eat every day: Sushi! Why I love working for the library: My favorite thing about being a children’s librarian has been connecting with kids on things that are important to them and watching them grow as people. Since the pandemic began my work has shifted from working with children to coordinating social media content on a team. I’ve been learning a lot and have enjoyed providing virtual resources to the community.
