Good morning! In Cheltenham, we're right around the corner from the re-opening of our schools! On Monday, February 1, Cheltenham Schools will begin in-person classes for all grades. When driving through Cheltenham, please be mindful of the school zones and school busses with their flashing lights picking up and discharging students. Remember, you must stop in both directions of travel for school busses. Our Officers will be watching for violations. Fines for these violations are very severe, so please be mindful, we do not want to meet you in this way. Thanks for helping keep our kids safe! Have a safe day.

Good morning. We are very grateful that through a well-coordinated effort across several law enforcement agencies, Issac Hwang was returned safely to his family yesterday. We did however get several inquiries as to why an Amber Alert was not issued in this case. We did submit the specifics of the incident for consideration of an Amber Alert on Sunday. But the fact of the matter is, CTPD does not decide which cases get Amber Alerts. The system is administered by the PA State P...olice, and there are specific criteria that need to be met. Since there was no clear evidence at the time that this was an abduction and not a missing person, they felt the criteria were not met and that the more appropriate alert was a MEPA - Missing Endangered Person Advisory, which was activated. That activation was very helpful, and we were able to quickly resolve the situation. We hope this helps explain a bit for those who had questions. Thank you to all who shared our post and helped us get the word out. Have a safe day! See more

All of us here at CTPD want to take a moment and wish all of you a very Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving. Once again our dining needs have been well taken care of by our wonderful friends at Salus University. They pull out all the stops to make sure we are all able to enjoy a delicious meal. This year we are all especially thankful that our friend and coworker who has been courageously fighting Covid for months, finally seems to be on the road to recovery. We wish him and his family all the best! Stay safe!

On this foggy morning we’d like to give everyone, especially those who frequent Tookany Creek Parkway, a friendly reminder to help keep you safe. Recently we’ve noticed more people than usual walking along Tookany Creek Pkwy using the shoulder of the road instead of utilizing the adjacent walking paths. These paths are well off the road or protected by guard rails for pedestrian safety. Since it’s been so foggy this week and as winter approaches we encourage everyone to use these paths as the visibility of drivers can be diminished and walking along the road could be dangerous.
