Check this out yoga friends.
Great yoga class yesterday ladies! Love how our classes are mixed with strength, mindfulness, and humor. You're such an amazing group! Thank you for consistently showing up for me and your fellow yoga partners.
Here's the pose we're practicing in class. It's a good one for the core. Give it a try!
Be home soon with yoga to share from Texas. See you Tuesday
Good Sunday to our yoga companions. This Tuesday's class, the 12th, will be canceled. I apologize for the cancelation. See you all the following Tuesday afternoon. Nina
Tuesday, March the 1st, class will be cancelled. Sorry guy's. I have a rescheduled appointment to make and I won't make it back to town in time. I do have Monday the 29th free if you all want to have a class. Let me know. Nina
Good morning dear yoga pals. I'm going to cancel class today, December 15th, due to my temporary lack of energy. You may have more than enough to do some poses on your own. Go for it! See you all next week. Nina
Good morning Yoga Tuesday pals. I'm on the fence about canceling class today considering this winter icy mess. It may be just fine traveling by 4:00. Let's say if at 1:00 the roads look safe we'll have class. In other words if I can make it I'll be there. Crossing fingers, legs and arms, think Eagle pose.
Join me I a few hours for some stress reducing, balancing and centering yoga. Class starts at 4:30.
A gentle reminder that we have class today at 4:30. Give your self the gift of showing up and taking care of you.
Yoga at Market Square, Pittsburgh, PA. If you have never tried this, give it a go. My experience was great!
Fall is a perfect time to start a yoga practice. You can carry it on into the Winter days that are soon approaching. Join us at Cherry Alley Yoga for some Fall filled yoga!
Life is a bowl full of cherries. Come share your yoga practice with us at Cherry Alley Yoga, and be filled to the brim!
Back from California and ready for our Tuesday class. I did leave my cell phone on a plane so until I get it back you can reach me via FB or by email. Can't wait to get back into our yoga groove!
Yoga continues at Cherry Alley Cafe. Today, Tuesday, class starts at 4:30. All levels invited.
Yoga at the Grange this Monday, the 23rd at 4:15 pm and 6:30 pm. I'm looking forward to teaching in this beautiful space. It has hardwood floors, lots of windows, and large enough to spread out. There are restrooms to change in and tea to offer. We have extra mats to borrow. I'll be opening the doors at 4:00 if you want to come a little early to settle in before class. Scholarships will be made available. See you at the Grange! The Grange Ate Center 1176 Johnson Mill Road Jus...t outside of Lewisburg on the way to Mifflinburg, off route 45. Dang this weather! I'm going to stand on the side of caution and cancel class for this afternoon. Sorry my yoga pals. Hope nothing stops us next week. See you then.
Good morning yoga partners. Unfortunately today's class will have to be cancelled and rescheduled for Thursday, I awoke with barely a whisper of a voice to speak with. I hope you can use the scheduled time to practice on your own or at the very least give yourself permission to stop and rest, do Savasana or a seated meditation maybe. I'll see you all on Thursday, the 26th.
We all had a yoga break last week but tomorrow, Tuesday the 17th, class is on. Get your calendar out and make sure you have it marked down for 4:30 pm. See you then!
Okay yoga pals, we will have class tomorrow weather permitting. It's going to be cold but most likely still safe to get around. Bundle up and push yourself out the door. A little yoga will do you good.
This short blog is inspiring. Really! Found on Mind Body Green site. In a rare fit of consistency, I decided to practice yoga every day for a month. I am not a yogini, but an average, works-out-a-few-times-a-week kind of woman. I told myself that I would commit to just 15 minutes a day, nothing crazy. In the process, I started to feel better physically (less tension in my neck and shoulders, no more back twinges) and I learned some new things about what I could accomplish. I ...can make a new habit. Doing yoga every day taught me that if I can do this every day, then I can do other things every day too (like write, read to my kids, make sure the dishes are done before bedtime). It gave me confidence that I can build other little habits into my routine. My drive toward self-improvement sometimes gets out of control, but keeping my expectations modest actually boosted me up rather than left me feeling hopeless, like I did in the past when I'd get overwhelmed trying for things that were big, long-term commitments (writing a book, running for a half hour straight) without breaking them down into manageable chunks. I can be realistic. Last January, I tried to do yoga every day, but I made grandiose plans. I was going to build up to an hour a day and I was going to be doing the advanced classes and be able to master every pose in the yoga app I was using. This time around, I didn't make any promises about what I'd accomplish from doing yoga, just that I'd do it. Better done than perfect, I say. We are always taught to focus on our desired outcome, but sometimes the goal is so far off that it can feel overwhelming. If I keep this up, maybe I will get to advanced-level yoga, but even if I don't, I'm still reaping the benefits of daily practice. The rest would just be cool party tricks anyway. I can follow a schedule, but I don't have to be rigid about it. Generally, I go through a cycle of classes: strength, relaxation, combination, flexibility, repeat. But sometimes I feel really tired and crummy, and I give myself permission to do the easiest routine (the relaxation one, of course!). Because I'm a teacher, most of my day is pretty much set into blocks of time, and that regimentation carries into my home life as well. But I learned with my commitment to 15 minutes a day of yoga that sometimes I'd have to do it in the morning, sometimes at night, and sometimes I'd have to skip something else that day so that I could still have time for the yoga. Some days yoga has been life-changing, and others, it's just another thing to cross off on my to-do list, but no matter what, I'm feeling better. If you are interested, the app I use (for the iPad) is called Yoga Studio. The picture is me in lizard pose, and by the way, doing yoga does not look as sexy as it feels. Keep it simple to feel successful.
It's yoga time! Today at 4:30 we're fitting in a class before we get much, much busier. An opportunity to slow down and release the stress that has accumulated in our bodies and minds. Think of yoga as a gift you give to yourself. See you later today!
Good morning yoga friends. I will have to cxl class for today, a family matter has come up and as tearful as I can get, I don't think I'll be able to keep myself together. Sorry for the last minute notice. See you all next week.
Yoga today, Wednesday the 3rd, at 4:30. Looking forward to it!
Asanas, yoga poses, anyone can do to relieve anxiety. The harder ones take practice but in time even those you'll be able to do. https://m.facebook.com/story.php
Okay... class tomorrow, Wednesday, will be at 4:30 pm. And ... class Thursday at 6:00 pm.
Sorry about all these updated posts. Many of you can not make it on Thursday. How about having a class tomorrow at 4:30?
Hello again dear yogis. I think it best to cxl classes for today. It looks like its going to continue to snow well into the evening. I want everyone to be safe. I will hold both classes on Thursday to make it up to you. Thank you.
Good Tuesday morning yoga friends. I've been trying, to no avail, to update this page regarding the days and hours we have class. In the meantime I'll keep posting when they are. Today we have two classes at 4:30 and 6:00. Classes run for an hour and 20 min for 8.00 a class or 40.00 for 6. And remember, sliding scale is always available, we want everyone to be apart of our group.

When planning your schedule for next week schedule in a yoga class for Tuesday night. Two times to consider, 4:30 and 6:00 pm. We are located upstairs above Cherry Alley Cafe in Lewisburg.
nina - thanks so much for making me feel so comfortable - am wondering why I took so long to try yoga! I know I will be a bit sore - was wondering what you recommend I start doing everyday to build up core strength - is there a basic format you could send me ? thanks and really excited about learning more !
Thinking about starting a 6:00 pm class on Tuesdays for those of you who work a little later in the day and can't make the 4:30 pm. Let me know if you are interested.
Don't forget to wear or bring some layers, to keep you warm in Savasana.
It's Tuesday the the 11th, the day we start practicing at 4:30 pm. Class is an hour and 20 minutes long. If you are a new student, and it's possible, I suggest you come 15 minutes early so I can introduce myself. See you soon!
Good morning yoga partners. Beginning this week Wednesdays class at 4:30 has been moved to Tuesdays at 4:30. I hope the change works with your schedule. I am open to having a 6:00 pm class Tuesdays, right after the 4:30, if you prefer that time. See you soon!
Good morning yoga buddies. Struggling with aches and pains in the shoulder, neck and head, general stress from seasonal changes, I found this wonderful instructor on YouTube. Every morning I'm going to do her practice (along with the clip). Consider trying it too. Wednesday we'll practice it together. See you then! https://m.facebook.com/story.php
It is a bluster day here in PA., a good day to warm up with yoga. Join us at Cherry Alley for a 4:30 class. Bring along some warm and cozy layers for your closing Savasana.
Hello dear yoga friends. There is a change in class scheduling for the season. For now you can join us once a week on Wednesdays at 4:30. Class is an hour and 20 minutes long. This may change to be a Tuesday class at the same time. I'll keep you posted. Hope to see you soon!
Yoga today at 4:30. Come join us, the more the ... uplifting!
Hello yoga friends. Good morning. Posting to let you know there will be only one yoga class this Wednesday, the 17th. The 4:30 pm class has been canceled. The 6:00 pm class is still on. The following Wednesday, the 24th, I must cancel both classes. Sorry for the break in your routine. Hope to see at 6:00 this Wednesday!
Good morning yoga buddies. There is a great performance by Guy Davis Trio , a blues band, tonight, for free, at the WEIS Center Lobby at 7:30. Why don't we all go after class. Class ends at normally at 7:20. I'd like to end class at 7:00 so we will have enough time to change and head over. Think about it.
Time to get your yoga on! Start by setting the intention to attended a class this Wednesday. Pack a bag with your yoga clothes and hang in by your front door or better yet, put it in the car. Doing this simple act will reduce the effort it takes to make it to class. All that's left is the follow through. You can do it!
As a follow up to my pervious message, with all good intentions, I wish to inspire you to want to come to yoga tomorrow. Though it may feel like a huge commitment, especially if it has been a while since you went to a class, it doesn't have to feel like such a big deal. You just do it! You pack up your clothes, grab your mat and show up. There will be plenty of opportunities in class to reflect on your own good intentions. That's the way back to follow, yoga will do the rest. See you tomorrow!
Good day yoga friends. It sure feels like Fall these days. That's okay with me. I love the Fall season. For some reason it always feels like the beginning of a new year, more so than in the middle of winter. A few years back I figured out why September always gave me a burst of energy, the feeling of excitement for new beginnings. Besides being my birth month, a personal start of a new year, it is the month we all started a new year of school. For most of us that's at least ...12 years of renewed perparedness, the event of planning and rescheduling of our lives. For some there were many more Fall's of new beginnings. To those who went on to become teachers these months have become the start of a new period; a time of transition from play to work. This may not be your time to feel a burst of energy and excitement for things to come. For you June may be your celebratory month. But you can still join us this Fall with the eventful feelings of renewal and the sense that with new oportunities growth and change can occur. We can all share in the hopefullness of a good 'new year'. Happy pre Fall to all. See more
So sorry yoga pals, I must cancel classes for today, Thursday the 14th. I am stuck in DC trying to get the kids off the ground for California. Terrible delays yesterday. See you all fit and ready to go next Wednesday at our regular scheduled time. Shanti
Good Monday morning. I want to remind you all that yoga classes on Wednesday at 4:30 pm and 6 pm are on the schedule. When planning your week don't forget to schedule your class in! See you then.
Good morning yoga friends. Don't forget to schedule in your yoga class today! Join us at Cherry Alley at 4:30 until 5:50 or later at 6:00 until 7:20. See you there!
Classes tomorrow, Wednesday the 23rd, have been canceled. My children are in town and there is much to do. Back on track next Wednesday at 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm. See you all then!
Cherry Alley Yoga's prototype t-shirt. What do you all think?
It's Wednesday, the day of the week we practice yoga at Cherry Alley. Being Wednesday it is on my schedule to write a post hoping to inspire you to join us. Here's what I'm thinking. Most of us rely on our calendars to stay structured and to remind us of our commitments. When it comes to finding time in our lives to take care of our selves the best way to find that time is to place yourself on your calendar first then plug your other commitments in around that time. If we ar...e not using the "I have no time for me" as an excuse to avoid our selves, this practice of making time for you is doable. As with anything you wish to be better at, let's just say yoga for example (nudge, nudge), you'll get better with practice. When you next feel inspired to take care of you, maybe that's today, get your calendar out and set up that time ahead of time and make it happen. "And I hope it turns out that way." Nina
Just got off my mat and had an idea for you to try. I'm going to try it for myself. If you don't already have a yoga space, pick a place to unroll your mat and leave it there. Not in some distant room closed off, but someplace in your daily path. Allow yourself to step on the mat when you notice it there. Even if you just stand on it. See if you feel inspired to do some asanas. You don't have to go all out and practice for any exact time. Just being in that moment is good enough. Shanti
The Karma Connection of Yoga
I really like Tara Stiles yoga style. If you do yoga, have done yoga but not for awhile check her out. If you have never done yoga she makes it easy enough to consider trying. It's about feeling your way into it. You can't go wrong that way.
Today is a good day to get your yoga groove on. A good day to pick up yoga were you left off. Start where you are, yoga will do the rest. Hope to see you in class today. Shanti Nina
Don't forget today, Wednesday the 11th, we start having 2 classes a day on Wednesdays; 4:30 until 5:50 AND at 6:00 until 7:20. Come join us for a time of contemplative meditation, yoga and restful Savasana.
Good Sunday morning fellow yogi friends. Hope you are all feeling strong, healthy and balanced. There has been a change in the weekly yoga class schedule at Cherry Alley Cafe. Thursdays eve class at 6:00 pm has been moved to Wednesdays. So now you have two class times to chose from on Wednesday's: 4:30-5:50 pm and 6:00- 7:50 pm. If there is another day or time that would fit into your schedule better please let me know. If enough people are also interested in that time I will certainly consider adding another class. Enjoy this beautiful day in Pennsylvania!
Oh, this is so sweet! A fun read. Relevant yet short, clear and right on. Thank you Lisa, Lisa Herr Smith, for sending this my way. Restorative Yoga, yup that's my speed. It is something unexplainable, doing yoga side to side with others, being so completely centered that all time and effort smooth a way to complete acceptance of ourselves and those we are with. Even if you are not highly spiritual you feel something otherworldly, and that feels good. Breath, stretch in a different direction and see how that feels for you.
Yoga today! Come get your yoga on.
Dear yoga partners, I'll be home in time for class this Wednesday, the 21st. Hope your are feeling as inspired to practice together as I do. See you soon!
I may have posted this before but worth posting again. Look through it to see if you can relate to one or more of them. And just as a reminder; there will be no yoga this week. See you all on Wed the 21st and Thurs the 22nd.
