Tree of the Week: Jabuticaba (Plinia cauliflora) The Jabuticaba, or Brazilian Grape Tree, is grown for its purplish-black, white-pulped fruits; they can be eaten raw or be used to make jellies and drinks (plain juice or wine). Its flowers are white and grow directly from its trunk. Not only do the flowers grow directly on the trunk, but the fruit does too! #grapetree #treeoftheweek #natureswonders

Tree of the Week: White Ash (Fraxinus americana) The white ash tree, also known as the #AmericanAsh, is native to eastern North America. It is one of the most used trees for everyday purposes and has been the timber of choice for baseball bats, furniture, and flooring until now. Due to the invasive #EmeraldAshBorer, 7.5 billion ash trees in the United States are now threatened. EAB has already wiped out hundreds of millions of ash trees so far. While this horrific pest prefers green ash and black ash trees, white ash trees are also being rapidly killed. With $200 worth of benefits for a single ash tree, this is something we should all be concerned about! #treeoftheweek #whiteash #treepreservation

Tree of The Week (spring edition): Weeping Cherry Tree (Prunus subhirtella 'Pendula')..yet another long-time favorite for so many reasons! Weeping cherry trees are at their best in spring when it's drooping branches are covered with pink or white flowers: they shout such a boldly colorful statement. Few trees are more graceful in the landscape than the weeping variety, especially those that cascade with mounds of beautiful flowers. After the tree finishes blooming, leaving w...hat looks like a blanket of pink or white snow beneath, it puts out glossy, dark green leaves, which make the tree a great addition for summer as well. Ebony berries follow in late summer, but don’t look for cherries; this tree is for ornamental use only - sorry...no cherries to eat. The various species and cultivars offer a wide range of sizes, from 8-foot dwarfs to 40-foot types with spreading canopies. See more

#DYK...Trees Communicate With Eachother! It has been proven that trees are able to communicate and share resources with other trees via their roots. With the help of symbiotic fungi, trees can send nutrients to saplings or share resources like water or carbon with other trees in need. #mothernature #treepreservation #treecare
A well-structured tree is aesthetically pleasing, supports the crown as it grows larger, is long-lived, and provides the greatest benefits at the lowest cost. Poor tree architecture or inferior branch structure can be costly, leading to tree failure and early tree removal and eliminating the benefits that could have been provided by a mature tree. Read more about structural tree pruning and how it will benefit your trees! #FromtheGroundUp #treepruning #treepreservation
