This is an update - She was picked up by the Brandywine Valley SPCA and we learned that she has a chip. We’re hopeful that they were able to contact the owner. We thank everyone for sharing our post. This adorable adult female dog was located on Harlan Drive this afternoon. She had a broken harness but no collar or tags. We're hoping that our community members are aware of the owner(s). From PA State Senator Carolyn T. Comitta - 19th Senatorial District: The COVID-19 vaccine is here. Distribution to front-line healthcare workers is currently underway, and it will soon be available to the general population. Senator-Elect Carolyn Comitta is holding a virtual town hall on the vaccine with Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine and other public health and infectious disease experts on Wednesday, January 6, at 3 p.m. ... The event, which will be held on Zoom, is free and open to the public. Interested participants should register ahead of time here: https://us02web.zoom.us//tZUpcuGpqzssGdcHgrQuMq-qXSq1L_Ry2. As the COVID-19 vaccine becomes more available across Chester County and Pennsylvania, we are encountering more and more questions. This is an opportunity for residents to get answers. We welcome your questions and encourage you to pass along this information and share it publicly. Please also remember that while the vaccine is very promising, due to limited supply it won’t immediately be widely available to everyone. Please continue to do your part in stopping the spread of this virus: wear a mask, wash your hands, keep social distance, and avoid crowds. Our 18th annual 'Coatesville Shop with a Cop' program was quite different than previous years. Due to COVID-19, we weren't able to host a breakfast, load up two school buses, parade to Walmart, have one-on-one shopping time with our youth or see the amazing volunteer elves wrapping up the gifts. However, we did the best we could under the circumstances and we were still able to bring some smiles (behind the masks) to childrens' faces. We thank our partners at Hope Beyond Bo...rders and Coatesville Kids to College. Their continued support and collaboration is invaluable and appreciated. With their help and the assistance of Walmart Parkesburg, a family-oriented shopping event followed remarks by Chief Jack Laufer, Sergeant Ollis and City Councilman Donald Folks, who addressed the participants prior to shopping. As always, we were happy to see Sergeant Tony Sparano of the West Caln Township Police Department, who began SWAC in Coatesville 18 years ago. His ongoing presence and support of the program is always appreciated. We thank the Coatesville Police Officers Union and members of the CPD civilian staff for their financial contributions. We are extremely grateful for the Witmer family and the employees of Witmer Public Safety Group Showroom for their generosity. Programs like this cannot happen without generous and caring people and organizations. #CPDcares #communitypolicing #ThisisCoatesville #copsandkids

This morning, Officer Himmel had the pleasure of ensuring that he was on Santa's 'good list' before escorting Santa to Episcopal Church of the Trinity's breakfast with Santa program. One of our Chaplains, Reverend Sherry Deets, was creative this year and made certain that social distancing took place, had prepared food-to-go and even put Santa behind plexiglass for photos with attendees. 2020 has certainly been different but it was nice to see participants and program coordinators continuing a Coatesville tradition. #CPDcares #communitypolicing

We wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday. After the turkey, many will begin holiday shopping or have already begun. Due to COVID-19, a larger percentage of people are opting to shop on line. With that in mind, we'd like to share some Black Friday & Cyber Monday Top 10 Cybersecurity Tips. The bad guys are at it again with holiday phishing scams, and this time from the comfort of your user's home. Because we are in the middle of a pandemic, retailers have alread...y started online Black Friday deals that attract scammers. Cyber Monday will also be bigger than ever before. That means you and your users need to be extra cautious when shopping online over the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend. According to TechCrunch, estimates of ecommerce growth rates by 18% will continue to increase during the holiday season. The growth in e-commerce will result in an increase of online scams. Since the beginning of November, Checkpoint research showed the first half of November already showed an 80% increase in phishing campaigns relating to sales & shopping special offers. It's Holiday Season for the bad guys too! But not the way you might think. They go into scam-overdrive mode. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the busiest online shopping days and the bad guys are planning to get rich with your money. So, here are this year's Top 10 Holiday Cybersecurity Alert Tips: 1. Keep all devices up to date with basic security measures to lessen your chance of becoming the victim. 2. Only connect to known Wi-Fi networks; beware of network names that have typos or extra characters. 3. Use strong, unique passwords on all accounts. This is a good time to update passwords! 4. Be safe on all social media; don't overshare and take the time to review your privacy settings on the platforms you use. 5. Keep an eye on your bank accounts and monitor your credit report regularly. 6. Be careful with messages regarding shipping changes. Always use official channels to stay updated. 7. Watch out for holiday greeting cards that may not be the sender you think! Don't open these unless you're certain you can trust who they came from. 8. Keep devices in view (or know where they are) throughout the course of all holiday travel. 9. Pay close attention to the websites you visit and shop on. It's safest to only use those you trust. 10. Be wary of ads, giveaways, and contests that seem too good to be true. #CPDcares #communitypolicing

RJ turned two today! Please join us in wishing him a wonderful birthday. Now that he's in pre-school, the parade to celebrate his big day had to be adjusted. So, with his mommy's permission, we decided to stop by his school and wish him a happy birthday. #CPDcares #communitypolicing #copsandkids #ThisisCoatesville

Dan Kuhn, our Records Clerk, is one of several civilian staff members that have chosen to wear purple this month. We appreciate his desire to help raise awareness during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Our friends at the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County are available 24/7 and are only a phone call away. A caring advocate can be reached at (610) 431-1430 to offer support and give information regarding the (no cost) confidential services provided to victims. #CPDcares #communitypolicing #freedomthroughempowerment

We'd like to thank Heather (wife of Sgt. Steve Smith) and everyone at Cookies for a Cop and our Fire Friends for their support and token of appreciation. They were kind enough to bake and deliver delicious cookies for all of the officers to enjoy. #sweetkindness #ThisisCoatesville #communitypolicing

With the remnants of Hurricane Delta hitting the area, we encourage our community members to give extra time traveling on the roadways. Rain is forecasted for the next couple of days and we'd like everyone to arrive safely to their desired destination. #CPDcares #communitypolicing
