Hi my name is Amber and today I am 18 months clean and sober. 18 months since I was dying on the streets with a heart and lung infection and a crippling meth an...d heroin addiction. My whole life I suffered trauma including abandonment from my entire family before I turned 18 years old. I suffered from rape. I suffered from abuse. I’ve had guns held to my head. I’ve been held hostage. I would hitchhike just to keep moving. Until those last dark days of misery when I’d urinate and defecate in buckets, passing out on the sidewalk while people walked right by me. I would beg for help and get ignored. I don’t know why I’m alive today. I don’t know how I’ve survived, but I have. Today, I am happy and I have a new YouTube series planned and I’m finally ready to talk about. Thank God for recovery. Sometimes traditional recovery fellowships can stigmatize those who use medication assistance to stay clean and sober. Allentown Recovery Center has started a MARA meeting for those who use medication assistance but would like to feel safe and supported in their recovery journey.
Service opportunity: We were asked to help a new pastor’s family that came from LA to unload a moving truck into a storage unit. He is the new pastor at Hopesprings (301 Market). It is 10 am tomorrow (Friday). We really only need 3-4 people to help. PM if you are available and willing to show Slate belt love to our a new resident and we will give you more information!
