Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration of all the different countries and cultures that come together and make up the Hispanic population. And to me that means taking pride in who I am and where I come from and who my ancestors are. The month of October was chosen because October 11 is Coming Out Day.

My Hispanic heritage reminds me to blossom, celebrate differences and not let go of the past and where I come from, but use it to move forward. Our communities are rich in tradition, wisdom and strengths. I feel very proud of my culture and heritage.
