Having the opportunity to work on this Rebel really hit home for me at customer pick up. The pure joy and excitement on the customers face was worth more then any dollar amount. Prefect way to ruin a day, to ruin a project, to make my job 10x harder and still have to be the bearer of bad news to the customer .. There is a science to this art. There’s more then a price difference between a legitimate shop and back yard joe slinging his buffer. In today’s current automotive manufacturing your car leaves with a paint system made of primer/base(color)/clear, averaging a total of 4-6mils and only 1.5-2.2mil is clear. This particular truck received a... buffing from someone who shouldn’t even be operating a garden hose. Upon prep washing this truck, I noticed there was no flow in the panels. The texture patterns differed almost reflecting a repaint. After a proper decontamination of the paint, I could see almost every edge and angle change threw the paint as the primer is right there ready to bust threw. Now comes the fun part. I’ll have to use lights of various kelvin temperatures and a paint gauge to mark out where the paint is paper thin vs okay to work with.
