Academy Award winning screenplay writer, John Ridley, has created a comic like none other in this one folks. Just to give you an idea, our last book club went an hour over our allotted time, and we STILL could’ve held a significant discussion for at least another hour. Okay gamers, this ones for y’all. The store has literally NEVER BEEN BETTER STOCKED as it is at this very moment. We’ve got games that are certain to be on people’s best of the year list, we’ve got the new Magic set: Kaldheim available for prerelease weekend, and some major restocks we cannot recommend highly enough. The highly anticipated Hallertau is out now and is sure to make it on to people’s Best of... list for the year. Beyond The Sun is an astounding game that is ...SOLD OUT INTERNATIONALLY! That speaks for itself right?? Happy #NCBD Swappers! Just wanted to highlight our picks of the week this week, one an all new limited series, and one a brand new Volume 1! Image brought us a great noir in Haha #1, and the first volume of the new crime series That Texas Blood! Both of these are smashing starts to two new series, and are available now. Butterflies inbound! We just got one of our most highly anticipated board games in today: Mariposas. Mariposas was created by Elizabeth Hargrave. If that name doesn’t ring a bell, she’s the one who created one of the best, if not THE best board game of last year, Wingspan. Mariposas is a control style board game where you use your butterflies to collect flowers and score points. If a beautiful butterfly control game isn’t up your alley. We got a whole bunch of other games with varying styles of play and art. We hope to see you soon!

Good morning Swappers! We have been a bit lazy in our social media duties so please forgive our lack of contact. But fear not things at the Swap are bounding along at its usual breakneck pace! We wanted to check in to let you know that we are expanding the store hours again so starting tomorrow we will be open on Sundays again. Great news for our weekend warriors. James will be captaining the ship so come on down and say hello! We will be open regular Sunday hours 12-5pm.... Everything else is staying the same for now. We are going to continue to be closed to the public on Tuesdays. Tuesday has never been a huge shopping day and with the required time and social distancing space needed to process the comic shipments before New Comic Wednesday we think it is best to just keep the doors locked. It has worked okay so far so we will just keep that in place. Other than that, things are just keen down at the ol Swapperooski. Since we have been able to open the doors up again it has been fairly smooth sailing. And it has been great to see everyone’s masked covered smiling faces. Long may it continue!! Good morning Swappers! Just a quick note on this holiday weekend to let everyone know that we will be closed today. The holiday weekend should not have any effect on shipping so we are expecting next week's New Comic Day to be on time as usual. We sincerely hope that everyone can make the most of this weekend and enjoy time with family and friends in a safe and appropriate manner. If you are venturing out for any reason, please protect yourselves, your loved ones and the public by wearing a mask and keeping proper social distance. Have a great weekend!

Quick one just for the Magic players - we are being offered the SUPER limited Secret Lair Ultimate set that arrives this Friday. Under the circumstances we probably wouldn't stock this bad boy so we want to give people the chance to claim one. First come, first serve anyone that wants a shot email us direct at the store. $225 plus tax. Open until noon tomorrow or until they are spoken for. Must be picked up and paid in full before close on Saturday.

Well Swappers, here is a rare Saturday update There is a lot of other craziness in the world right now but I just wanted to say a quick note about some comic industry news. If you follow along with this kind of thing you probably heard the big deal announcement yesterday that DC has left Diamond Distribution. If you are inclined to pay attention you will also hear lots of comments and articles and statements. And obviously it has an impact for the Swap. A very big impact. S...o here is mine. Some of you may have seen my comments about DC’s announcement last month about restarting shipment of new comics. I chose not to take what they we were offering. Now, if we would like to continue carrying DC single issue comics, we no longer have a choice. So we are taking the steps to align ourselves with one of the new distribution options. I will not pretend that I am happy about this. For a whole host of reasons. I would never pretend to speak for another retailer and how they do business. There are owners out there that will find some positive spin on this, but I haven’t seen many yet. The bottom line for me is that there are a LOT of questions about how this went down. So I will be watching it closely. Right now the simple pieces of having a new account in place are there. The real test is in about a month when this new distributor must accommodate hundreds and hundreds of new accounts and get DC comics out to stores. We will obviously do our best to get things out to our customers as seamlessly as possible. But it is not a bad idea to be prepared for some hiccups. I’m sure people will ask if we should expect any other changes. I really don’t know. It would be pretty short sighted to not expect some dominoes to fall throughout the rest of the industry. And of course, we will always do our best to adapt as necessary. If you want to know if there is anything that customers can do from that side of the counter, I can say one thing for sure. If you want to make sure to get DC Comics from Comic Swap you should add or start a subscription for that title. Because you will not be seeing many DC Comics on our shelves. Good morning Swappers. Just a reminder, today will be our first day in awhile that we will be open for in store shopping. We are doing our best to make things go as smoothly as possible, but please bear with us as we adapt to this new normal. As I said in the reopen post, we are going to be adjusting the store hours a little bit until we get settled. Today's store hours will be 10am to 6pm. Comic Swap has a little more than 2000 followers. A quarter of that, probably less, are maybe engaged in what we post. They listen to us hype some new book. They listen to me talk about what is upcoming in the store. They ask questions about a title or if something is available. Comic Swap has a small captive audience. We have cultivated a community space for readers of all ages, all races, all genders. Everyone. This space has embraced all people as part of that community. I...t is a safe space. To our captive audience and community - listen to the people of color in your life. Accept what they are saying, that they feel marginalized and angry. Accept that the world we are seeing is unfair and needs change. We can’t or won’t all be on the front line - whether that is protesting or donating. If you can do those things, do it. Use your voice. Regardless we can all always listen. We can educate ourselves. We can support. We don’t all have a captive audience. But when you do, speak up. Say that things need to change.
