Theme for tonight’s art and wine= Boo!!! Since the weather was too ugly for Trick or Treaters last night, we have the extended version of Halloween this year. and as my treat, I’m painting faces for anyone who needs a BOOst for their costume, starting around 4!... Come paint with us, those who aren’t trick or treating! 6:30/ $20 per person/ byob as always!

I’m still in awe at how well yesterday’s chalk festival turned out! For the first experimental try of what I hope will be an annual event, the support and enthusiasm was incredible. Connellsville Walmart donated all the chalk for the kids area at the event and Martins donated drinks and snacks for the artists... ...and then there were all of our local businesses, who mostly had never heard of chalk painting, but took a risk to support the artists and raise funds for renovat...ions to the community center!! It wasn’t only businesses taking a chance this year this was a new medium for all of our artists as well, and that can be a scary thing. I was confident in their abilities, but most of them described feeling worried that their work wouldn’t turn out well and I have to say that while I knew they’d do well, what they actually created blew me away!! I was over at the kids area at Wellness on the Yough (wonderful as always we will always pair Chalkfest with them if it’s up to us!!) so I didn’t see most of these until I was done for the day. The voting at the booth pretty much replicated the voting on the mayor’s post: Taney Basinger won first, Kaitlin Hess won second, and Patty Maxwell won third! Im glad I didn’t have to vote I wouldn’t have been able to pick just one. All I can say is Connellsville, you’re amazing. Thank you, thank you, thank you all! With school starting, I’m thinking of the difficulty of adjusting to earlier bedtimes... and of course all the school friendships picking up where they left off in May!
