VFW 402 30.11.2020

For the Good of the Order: While COVID has had a significant impact on business and income this year, VFW Keith-Holmes Post 402 remains strong. Our Officers and Members are dedicated to carrying out the mission of the VFW: To foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve our veterans, the military and our communities. To advocate on behalf of all veterans. While we are struggling, we know others struggle more...here are 10 ways we're rising... to the occasion: 1) Our Canteen Staff has created an environment for our members to continue to gather and socialize safely throughout the pandemic. 2) On December 4th, Post 402 made a donation of blankets, socks, gloves and other new clothing items to Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard to support their Veterans Day Clothing Drive. 3) On December 8th, Post 402 Officers voted to honor our annual commitment to both FisherHouse and VFW National Home for Children totaling $1,000. 4) In lieu of our annual Children's Christmas Party and in cooperation with Post 402 Auxiliary and with the USO of Western PA we purchased gifts to assist 5 area families for Christmas, totaling $1,000. 5) Throughout the year our team has been working with local municipalities to include Coraopolis, Neville Island, and Crescent Township on the Veteran Banner Program to honor all of our local veterans. Maybe you've seen Commander Mike Blair out on 5th Ave. hanging/repairing banners. 6) Post 402 continues to offer sponsorship opportunities to businesses, organizations, individuals, and families for our War Memorial. Funds collected through this program go toward ongoing maintenance and repairs, veterans assistance programs, and furthering the memory of all who have served. B.I.N.G.O 9) Where else can you slam down a stack of flapjacks, enjoy an enormous steak, or Sunday Spaghetti with family...all while supporting a great cause. Throughout 2020, our team has made every effort to offer community events to help bring us all together (socially distanced...of course). 10) Your involvement and cooperation through Sharing/Liking/Following our social media helps us continue to build our organization, communicate with the community, and advocate on behalf of our local area veterans. Help us keep it going. If your interested in being part of something big, making a positive impact in your community, and working with a great group of Veterans consider joining us today. We need you. #VFW #StillServing #Community #VeteransHelpingVeterans #GivingBack #USO #veterans #pittsburghveterans
