While it is true that there are positives and negatives to social media sites like Facebook, an often overlooked benefit of these platforms is the ability to find a community. This recent VOX article discusses the benefits of connecting online in times of grief and starting the process of healing alongside others who are also experiencing grief.

It's National Dog Day! Established in 2004, National Dog Day exists as a day to celebrate our canine companions, the work that they do in our communities and to bring awareness about the great need for rescue and adoption. Our buddy Oliver is a 2.5 year old Goldendoodle who brings so much love and joy to our lives. Have a canine companion of your own? Share a photo of them below to celebrate National Dog Day! Also, consider lending your support to the Washington Area Humane... Society to help them in rescuing and caring for so many of our four legged friends in our community! https://www.washingtonpashelter.org/donate/ See more

The days after the loss of a loved one are hard. After losing him to cancer nearly three months ago, we too are facing the challenge of living out this day in a new way. Funeral Basics discusses some ways that we can grieve during all of "the firsts" after we lose someone we love:

Have you ever heard of an Ethical Will or a Legacy Letter? I hadn't. In a recent article, Carrie Friedman discusses her experience with both and reminds us why they are so important to ensuring that our legacy lives on. A legacy is a circle a chain reaction that never ends of what you pass along to your family members and community. What do you want people to remember about you and integrate into their own lives? What do you want your legacy to your community and your children to be after you’re gone?"

When someone we love dies, we have needs: - A need to gather and support one another - A need to reflect on the life of the person we cherished - A need to face the reality of death and mourn our loss... However, we often feel conflicted about planning a funeral after hearing our loved ones say things like "no funeral for me" or "don't make a big deal of it when I'm gone". We understand how difficult this can be. It's why we offer simple and affordable options such as memorial services and celebrations of life that allow you to honor your loved one's wishes while meeting the needs of those left behind.

COVID-19 UPDATE - JULY 16, 2020 As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to develop, new guidance has been issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Health that once again limits the capacity of indoor events to 25 or less. While we had recently been able to exceed this limit while observing proper social distancing, we will now, once again, be limited to 25 guests for all visitations, funerals and memorial services conducted indoors. ... No timeline has been released on these new details, but we will keep everyone informed as we receive updates about how we can operate. No matter the guidelines, we are here to serve your family 24 hours a day and will do everything in our power to plan a meaningful memorial for your loved ones.
