Just one more day to sign on supporting the Upper Delaware River
Those who say diamonds are forever never fly fished. Fly rods and love go hand in hand. Some are even adorned with nickel silver. I'd say that covers any jewelry requirements. We'll throw in a new fly line with each rod purchase so you'll really look like a big spender too. Falling in love is wonderful, falling in the river isn't. Help keep the one you love from falling in the water with a new pair of wading boots for secure stream and river bottom footing. "I Only Have Eyes... For You", and what better way to see the ones we love than with a nice clear ChromaPop lens from Smith Optics. New arrivals just yesterday to help you and your love see eye to eye. You'll see the fish better too. Call for more romantic gift ideas. Still time for delivery by Valentines Day.
The next time you go fishing, no matter how the catch may have went, keep in mind that what's really important is the fact that you went.
You might want to join the Delaware Valley Fly Fishers so you can tune in to this months program.
When something is this good an introduction usually won’t do it any justice, so just read it.
2021 arrives with many hopes and dreams. May all yours come true.
All things trout and the hallowed waters where we pursue our passion. A collection of insight, biology, fly tying, entomology, history and much more. Matt Supinski’s dedication and knowledge from decades of study come together with his selection of experts to open your soul to the world of the Salmonids. We’re proud to have our own John Miller’s photography and expert entomology appear here. Read through the Premier issue of Hallowed Waters, you won’t be disappointed. https://hallowedwaters.com/preview/
Entering mid December with snow coming in. Forecast is for 6-8 between Monday & Thursday with seasonable (read cold) temps. Depending on how things twist & turn we can see more or less. Tie flies and plan next seasons fishing. We’re taking reservations for 2021. Call, message or email [email protected] to lock in a date while there’s still a few springtime openings.
If you’re not into winter fishing use them as little Christmas tree ornaments. Multi-use for the versatile fly fisherman. Get yours today in time for Christmas at: https://whitetail-fly-shop.myshopify.com//air-lock-strike-
What better way to say Chag Urim Sameach than with a trout menorah illustration shared from our friend Phil Monahan. Credit goes to Phil’s artist friend Tim Johnson. See below for the link to Tim’s gallery. Happy Hanukkah!
It’s not fly fishing but it is fishing and even I have been known to partake during times of desperation. Be careful, be safe, be sure. Remember ice thickness can vary.
‘Tis the season to go nymphing fa la la la la la la la la... This line will have you turning over indicator nymph rigs like a boss, even on windy winter days.
Marty Yi & Johnny Millertime had a nice escape to warmer climes catching fish that frequent those warmer places. Now back to Esox for John. As for Marty, who knows? Could could be anywhere until spring when he’ll be back with the rest of the Cross Current Guides to rock through the season. Don’t wait to book your date.
Phil Monahan’s three fav tandem rigs to sink this winter. The bugger/CJ combo is one of my go to duets, though a big stonefly sometimes beats the bugger to the tippet.
Looking to how the weekend started for David and Lisa while out with Cross Current Guide Zach Anderson. The wind switched today and brought us back to fall. So it goes this time of year. Watch for the better windows and you’ll find some nice opportunities in the next several weeks.
Splendid day for first time Upper Delaware visitors, Scott and Rich with Cross Current Guide Marty Yi yesterday. Spring like weather had springlike action. We’re hoping for more of these days mingled in as fall progresses. Stay tuned to the weather as we’re on the river until the snow flies... and even then, if the fish are taking flies we’ll keep feeding them.
Terry took advantage of some gorgeous fall weather yesterday and spent a day in the water with Cross Current Guide Zach Anderson.
The time has never been more right to extend your time outdoors and on the water. Let Patrick Cook at Whitetail Country Fly Shop show you how easy it really is. Call him today at 570-635-5151 and keep on fly fishing.
Isonychia and blue wing olives have been the dry fly ticket. Size 14 with the iso and 20’s and smaller with the olives. Think the same with nymphs. Streamer action for the most part has been on olive and on the smaller side. If swinging wets keep the above in mind too.
A wild rainbow took the title as Alina’s first Upper Delaware trout while on the water this past weekend with Cross Current Guide Anita Coulton. Well done and congrats!
Rob was rocking the West Branch yesterday and even scored a quality native Fallfish while fishing with Cross Current Guide Marty Yi.
A classic fall chill blew in yesterday, but Jay slogged the wind and made it happen with Cross Current Guide Zach Anderson. Weather forecast has us back to 70 midweek with the wind gone and a chance to cast a small bwo back to being real.
Wind can be the fly fisher’s worse enemy, but when you’re new to the game it can also be the norm, and so it was for Mary and Martin yesterday hooking up and getting it done while fishing with Cross Current Guide Anita Coulton yesterday.
In just a couple of weeks we’ll be trading frosty mornings for cold starts. For now it’s game on and pleasant fall days.
Our good friend Todd has been teaching his son Aiden the way of fly fishing. Aiden has been learning well and yesterday crushed them on dry flies. Nice work!
Yesterday was a day of far and fine and tiny flies on light tippet. Today I’m looking forward to the same sophistication.
Conor lit up an already bright day with a few wild browns while fishing with Cross Current Guide Zach Anderson during yesterday’s severe clear October day.
