DAM FACTOID The Holyoke Dam on the Connecticut River is 30 feet high and 1,020 feet wide. It creates just 33 megawatts of electricity. A large wind turbine generates 2.5-3 megawatts, so 10 - 15 wind turbines could easily replace the generation capacity of the Holyoke Dam. I was impressed with this fact just now when I researched it myself. Now I realize it also depends on the amount of wind, but the Holyoke Dam depends on the amount of water. I doubt that Holyoke is making 33 mg’s this summer.

Obsolete mill dams are everywhere and they need to be removed. First, they block fish migration !!! Also they warm the water behind them and they deplete the oxygen levels in the rivers. MILL DAMS ARE OBSOLETE !!!
