We interviewed Luke Robinson, owner of DFW Event Design's sister companies, Audio Gods Live Sound and Plexi-Screens who he gave us info and advice about safely navigating life during Covid-19. Has Audio Gods Live Sound been working?the answer is YES! Audio Gods has been providing a/v for micro-weddings by live streaming video services through the use of controlled robotic cameras that cover all angles of the wedding ceremony. Couples are choosing to live stream their events... due to lowering their guest counts a a result of Covid-19. Live Streaming is the perfect way to include friends and family on the special day. When asked for advice for someone looking to have an event with COVID-19, Luke shared, Stay calm and follow your gut. Unfortunately we don’t know what tomorrow will bring, and planning an event right now means having to deal with regulations and opinions from every angle. Many of them are justified and some are less so. Overall just keep calm and focus on what matters most to you. Pictured first is a photo from Live 8, pictured second is a photo from Obama's inauguration, both events which Luke worked on.The last two photos are renders of plexi screen options for school desks.

We interviewed Katie about the design process that goes into every event and just had to share some of her responses! When asked where Katie draws her inspiration for her incredible events she said, Home decor trends, hotel lobbies, or hot spots around town are some of the areas she looks for trends. Katie loves the entire design process, but her favorite part of designing an event would have to be, Seeing the clients’ reaction when everything comes to... life. That moment is truly one of the best for anyone in our industry! If you’re trying to plan a wedding or any sort of event, Katie’s best piece of advice is, Spend money on the statement installations and the pieces that are going to really create the wow factor and transform the space to the next level. There ya have it - direct advice about design and events straight from the head design magician herself! See more

We interviewed one of our event designers, Marlee who was responsible for this industrial wedding last April about her design aesthetic and how her clients are managing their events during Covid -19. After asking where Marlee draws inspiration from, Marlee shared, I start by drawing inspiration in my designs from our energetic, intelligent, and stylish couples, of course! From there I take their energy and I marry it with forecasted trends within the design industry"... Are you interested in knowing how a DFW designer decides on the flowers we use in a floral arrangement? Well, Marlee said, Color, Texture, and Sourcing are the most important topics when discussing floral arranging. You can have all the peonies, garden roses, and orchids you want but the hue, curves and region the blooms are from must match the overall design. Adding in that mocha colored carnation with hundreds of ruffles or that coral spray rose with delicate heads can really make your statement florals shine and pop. She also shared some advice for anyone holding an event during the Covid-19 pandemic, A wedding during this time isn’t exactly what you have been dreaming of. However, I think there is something to be said by taking this time as an opportunity to really honor the roots of marriage. We are having smaller guest counts with intimate and luxurious designs to celebrate a special day between two people ready to live their lives together. From a design perspective, we now have the ability to make your event truly you by adding in elements that bring your intimate affair to the next level. After all, the two most important people will be there celebrating, you and your life partner. See more

We loved playing off of the stunning architecture and neutral palette of the @theunionleague ballroom by keeping things classic, yet beautiful for this city wedding.

With micro-events becoming the rage... details, design, and decor become even more important! We think this small intimate birthday dinner for @yolanda.hadid turned out beautifully and we always love incorporating hanging greenery with glass gloves to create an eye catching tablescape.

We are continuing with some interviews from past couples about their honeymoons! Pictured first is Amanda and her husband, Ryan. For their honeymoon they went all over New Zealand. They decided to go here not only because of all the activities and the natural beauty, but they wanted to do and see things that they wouldn’t otherwise on a normal vacation. With both Amanda and Ryan being in the medical field and having limited time, they did a minimoon the weekend after their... wedding in Cape May, and 7 months later went on their honeymoon. Amanda’s favorite part of their honeymoon was, Being more adventurous then they thought they would be, even doing a couples canyon swing! When asked what advice they would give to couples planning a honeymoon, Amanda shared, There’s no rush, do it the way you want to do it. Pictured second is Tessa and Joe! They waited 8 months following their wedding to go on their honeymoon, but went on a mini-moon right away to Napa. For their honeymoon they traveled all over Italy - Capri, Positano, Ravello, Florence, and Rome. Tessa said she, Highly recommends waiting for a honeymoon (but take a mini-moon too!) because it really does prolong that newlywed feeling. They chose Italy because they wanted to go somewhere neither of them had been, and they both, love pasta and wine so it was a natural choice! When asked what Tessa’s favorite part of the honeymoon was she told us it was taking a private boat to the blue grottos in Positano because the water truly glowed and it was absolutely gorgeous. We asked for recommendations for couples planning a honeymoon and Tessa shared, Plan all commutes and hotels and purchase museum/tour tickets at least a couple weeks ahead of time. I would say my favorite part of exploring a city is getting lost in it. And getting lost with your new husband/wife is so romantic and freeing! So get lost walking around cities, eat at tiny hole-in-the-walls and connect with locals whenever possible! See more

Following our interview with Kathryn, from Swain Destinations, we asked some of our past couples about their honeymoons! Pictured first is Erin and her husband, James. For their honeymoon they went to New Zealand the day after their wedding! For their schedules, this was really the only time they had the opportunity to take a once in a lifetime trip. They wanted to go somewhere unique that had a ton of outdoor activities, and they'd always heard good things about NZ, so the...y decided to go for it! It was tough to pick just one favorite moment from their honeymoon, but Erin hilariously told us, Maybe when I spilled a full glass of wine on Jimmy during hour 1 of a 13 hour plane ride? (I don't react well to turbulence...) LOL. But in reality, Erin and Jimmy shared that the coolest thing they got to do was a glacier hike. They took a helicopter ride to the top of a glacier, walked around, climbed inside of ice caves, and drank melted ice right off the glacier! When asked for some recommendations for couples planning a honeymoon, they share that if you are planning a destination like NZ, to plan pretty far in advance. They, "ended up using a travel agent who took care of EVERYTHING, and we were so happy with all of her recommendations. Like many other places, it would have been really easy to over-plan the trip, but we took plenty of time to just have 'free time' and explore new places without any plan at all. Pictured second is Katie’s cousin, Steph and her husband, Luke. For their honeymoon they went on a 2-week backpacking trip throughout Thailand. They picked a place that had the perfect blend adventure and relaxation. Steph and Luke’s favorite part of the trip was the incredible food, and as Steph said, "Street food is THE BEST! We asked for some advice for couples planning a honeymoon and Steph shared, Plan a trip for both of you. For us that meant relaxation after the whirlwind of a wedding, but also an opportunity to do something adventurous and fun." See more

We got to speak to the wonderful Kathryn Fischer, @theadventureconcierge, a travel consultant, from Swain Destinations and she gave us some great advice for all of our couples looking to go on a honeymoon.Kathryn began her travel career 6 years ago after moving to Australia and working for Viking Cruises. She quickly fell in love with the travel industry and upon her return to the US began working for Swain Destinations.Swain Destinations was started over 30 years ago an...d grew to be one of the leading travel companies. They create customized one-of-a-kind vacations throughout Africa, Asia, and the South Pacific. With direct contacts throughout each of the countries of expertise the experience with Swain Destinations is sure to be luxurious and unforgettable.Although COVID-19 is throughout the world, Kathryn encourages couples to still take a few days to celebrate being a couple following the wedding even if it isn’t a full-on honeymoon. She shared that many couples are now doing minimoons, a mini honeymoon right after getting married with a full honeymoon to follow a year or two later.A lot of trust and planning goes into a wedding, and that same philosophy should be applied to a honeymoon.Honeymoons are such a large expense with so many details, if one is interested in finding a travel planner or advisor, definitely go for it! Building a relationship with a travel agent and getting honest feedback will help make the honeymoon planning process so much easier and is totally invaluable in times like these. We undoubtedly recommend talking to Kathryn, or any of her colleagues, over at Swain Destinations if you are thinking of planning any sort of trip!!
