It's Friday. And it's not snowing. So far today ALL of my customers have been shopping for yarn. No one for kayaks or boats or candy. Just yarn shoppers. So I guess I will tell you about our yarn department. First of all, it is huge. Thousands of skeins of yarn. Polyester, acrylic, wool, blends, cotton and more. And lots of brand names, like Lion, Red Heart, Vanna, Caron, Bernat, Lily, Aunt Lydia. It seems like every couple of years the manufacturers come out with a new yarn ...that catches on like wildfire. A few years ago it was the ruffly scarf yard, before that it was Fun Fur. Last year they bombed with the really think yarn for arm knitting. But this year they hit another home run. Scrubby Yarn for making dish clothes and other scrubbies. They even have Scrubby Sparkle. Some are using it by itself and others are using it together with the Sugar and Cream cotton to make a heavier dish cloth. Makes great pot holders to. Dozens of color in stock and going fast. Wednesday, and only 8 days until Thanksgiving. So I had to get this post in for all the bakers and candy makers. Dreamboat has cake, candy and cookie supplies. About a year ago, after Howe's True Value dropped the Wilton line of baking and candy products, Dreamboat took on the line. We have many flavors of candy melts from Wilton, candy molds, hard candy mix, including sugar free. For cakes and cupcakes we have a number of baking pans and trays. Decorating is made easy with a... huge variety of sprinkles and premixed icings. We have cookie presses and cookie cutters. RACING SEASON has begun at Riverside Radio Control Raceway.. Last evening was our first points race of the season and there was a great turnout with fantastic racing. In fact, the turnout was so good we are going to start racing on Sundays also. Clark Thomas will be in charge of Sunday racing. The track will open at 11 AM for practice and racing will commence at 1 PM. As of right now the same rules will apply as to the classes and the fees with be the same. $12 for your first vehicle and $5 for each extra class. Practice only is $5. Spectators are free. Guess what ! ? ! ? ! ? Riverside Raceway will be opening for its 28th season of Radio Control Racing on Wednesday Oct 5, 2016. Wow, lots of years and lots of racing. Doors open at 5 PM with racing starting about 6:14. As of right now no changes to any of the classes are planned but a couple minor changes are being discussed and will be announced opening day. As usual, two weeks of open racing and then the points series begin. Invite a friend or relative to come and watch. And remind them that spectators get in FREE. What other professional sport do spectators get in FREE? None, and all of our racers are professionals in their own minds.
