For the month of November we are going to introduce you to Epilepsy Warriors who are no longer with us, but their memory and legacy continues. Today our featured Epilepsy Warrior is Cameron Boyce. Cameron passed away from SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) in 2019. When you watch the interview from GMA his parents they say that Cameron was not having frequent seizures and that they did not know the dangers of his nocturnal seizures. If you or a loved one is having nocturnal seizures you may be eligible to receive a movement detection monitor through our Emma's Gift Program. To learn more visit https://www.eawcp.org/programs/movementmonitors/ or call 412.322.5880. https://abcnews.go.com//disney-star-cameron-boyces-parents

Veterans are at higher risk of developing epilepsy than the general population. The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) estimates that the prevalence of veterans with epilepsy under treatment at VA facilities was 13.8 per 1000 in 2015.2 Think of that number this way. If 100,000 veterans were in attendance at an event, almost 1,400 of them would be in treatment for epilepsy in VA facilities. The VHA data show that about 13% of veterans with seizures were less than 45 years old, 39% were between 45-65 years old, and about 8% were female. If you are a veteran or the family member of a veteran and need help with epilepsy, contact the EAWCP. And know that we thank you and your family for your service to our country today and every day!
