Today we celebrate National Navy Day! The Navy's actual Birthday is on October 13th, but has been celebrating on October 27th as of 1922. NATIONAL NAVY DAY HISTORY The Navy League of the United States organized the first Navy Day in 1922, choosing October 27th to honor the birth of President Theodore Roosevelt.... The U.S. Navy currently stands as the largest, most powerful navy in the world, with the highest combined battle fleet tonnage. The service engages over 340,000 personnel on active duty and more than 71,000 in the Navy Reserve. HOW TO OBSERVE #NavyDay Recognize Naval service members and their dedication to their country. Visit a Naval museum to learn more about the Navy’s history. Discover more about naval training, the types of ships in our fleets, and where they sail around the world. Use #NavyDay to post on social media.
Today we observe National Day Of The Deployed. This day honors all service members who have been deployed in service of our country. The day also acknowledges the sacrifices that military families make during deployment. The first National Day of the Deployed was observed in 2006, when North Dakota announced a proclamation for the day, thanks to Shelle Michaeles Aberle, who petitioned Governor John Hoevento with the idea. October 26 was chosen for the date in honor... of Shelle's cousin, LTC David Hosna, who had been deployed to Iraq (the day was Hosna's birthday). By 2012, every state in the US was observing this day. If you're honoring those who have been been deployed, it is recommended to post to social media including the hashtag #DayOfTheDeployed.
Today we would like to wish the Civil Air Patrol a Happy 79th Birthday! Although not part of our military, the CAP has been providing support to our military since 1941. The organization was formed to provide civilian air support during the war effort of WWII. The CAP helps perform border and coastal patrol, military training assistance, courier services, and other activities. All members of the CAP are volunteers. The CAP has around 560 planes with approximately 61,000 youth and adult members nationwide. The members are mostly made up of retired Air Force members and youth JROTC. There are requirements to join the CAP, including a $35 one time membership fee.

Today we thank all those who served, past and present. HAPPY VETERANS DAY! Veterans Tribute Veterans are those who stand up and fight. Because they know this is right.... They cross the bright and shining sea. To give us our chance to live and be free. They leave their families and closest kin. For God and country our lands they defend. It’s time we pay tribute for all they have done. They are ALL Heroes each and everyone. They did not do this for glory or even fame. They did not set out to be Heroes but that is their name. To those many people that are red, white, and blue. We stand up proudly today and say THANK YOU!!! ~Unknown

HAPPY CONSTITUTION DAY!!! This federal holiday commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787. The U.S. Constitution has 4,400 words. It is the oldest and shortest written Constitution of any major government in the world." Of the spelling errors in the Constitution, Pensylvania above the signers' names is probably the most glaring.
