This is what a Starter Motor looks like. This little thing is what cranks your engine over when you turn the key to start your car. Usually, when Starter Motors start going bad nothing will happen when you turn the key, like your battery is dead. This one began cranking very slowly instead, much like your battery is weak. After a quick diagnosis, and sort of quick replacement, they are good to go again! #startermotor #starter #autorepair... #independentmechanic #mechanic #lancasterpa See more

When checking or filling tire pressure, observe your vehicle's recommended pressure. This sticker is found in the driver's door jamb of most modern vehicles. If it's not there, check in your owners manual. If you can't find a number and are in a bind, fill to 30 PSI for regular passenger cars and SUVs. Do not fill the tires to the "Max Press" listed on the tire itself. This rating is maximum pressure the tire is rated for, and is usually well above your vehicle's recommendation. I find a decent amount of tires overfilled to this pressure. Tire pressure is a big deal for safety, gas mileage, and tire wear. If you don't have a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (low tire light), try and check your pressures at least once a month.

Replaced leaking valve cover gasket. It's the blue part. These rubber gaskets get brittle with age and eventually they start leaking oil. Under the valve cover is the valve assembly. It controls your engines breathing. Second picture is it all put back together. #autorepair #independentmechanic #honda... #valvecovergasket @ Lancaster, Pennsylvania See more

This is what it looks like when you run your brake pads all the way down. It makes a pretty nasty noise when it gets to metal on metal. Your brakes don't work as well either. Most brake pads have a little tab that touches the rotors and starts squeaking before this happens, to give you some warning. This particular vehicle did not. #brakes #independentmechanic #lancastercity... #automotiverepair See more

Every once and a while, your cabin air filter should be replaced. I believe this one had been in there for about five years, or 70k miles. #maintenance #routinemaintenance #independentmechanic... #cabinairfilter #autorepair See more
