Do you know someone struggling with excessive drooling? Sialorrhea, also known as excessive saliva, is a common problem seen in neurological disorders and/or an...atomical abnormalities involving the oral cavity. Often times, medications are unsuccessful in treating symptoms and patients become frustrated. Dr. Kimberly at ENT Associates of Central PA uses Botox, or botulinum toxin, to treat this symptom/condition. The Botox is injected into the major salivary glands, and results typically last for 4 months. Most insurances cover this procedure. Call today if you or someone you know struggles with this symptom. ENT Associates of Central PA offers regular ear cleanings using safer methods than those available over-the-counter or at home. Our staff uses special equipment including a binocular microscope (pictured), suctioning tools, and metal instruments. We discourage the use of ear candles or cotton swabs, commonly referred to as "Q-tips." Cotton swabs rub the skin of your ears, releasing histamine, and results in irritation and inflammation of the canal. This process is similar to a mosquito bite that becomes itchier the more that you scratch. Additionally, wax is a lubricant and removing it can make your ear canals drier, resulting in further Q-tip use for relief. Ear cleanings are covered by most insurances. Call today to schedule!
