#SDGS 11 and 12 go hand in hand at ECS. Students frequently go on nature hikes to pick up trash, and they partner with Tree Pittsburgh to plant trees in the community. In the classroom, students learn about soil conservation and its importance to production in edible schoolyard. #ECSGrowsTogether

Last week, first graders in thinking lab sharpened their skills and made porcupines using renewable resources! #GrowingCitizens

Right before students went on break, 4th and 5th grade learned about soil conservation methods from around the world and planted cover crops that will manage soil erosion, soil fertility, soil quality, water, weeds, pests, and so much more! #growingcitizens

To kick off our count down to #EarthDay, ECS staff and students demonstrate the first two #SDGS through Social-Emotional Learning and experiencing a positive classroom culture, and Ms. Keller teaches her edible school yard students about food waste. Students also have the opportunity to take what they grow in ESY and donate it to the Food Pantry. #ECSGrowsTogether

It may be spring break, but ECS is continuing its countdown to #EarthDay! Earlier this month students participated in the #ChoosetoChallenge campaign in opposition of gender bias which correlates with Goal 5: Gender Equality. On to Goal 6, filtered water fountains and sanitizer stations can be found throughout all three buildings. This particular fountain has saved more than 1,600 water bottles from going to landfills. #ECSGrowsTogether #SDGS

#ICYMI Don't delay! Pick Up your student's academic kit today! Students in grades K-5 participating in both virtual and in-person learning can pick up Academic Kits at the Intermediate School Tuesday Nov. 10 (today), Wednesday, Nov 11, and Thursday, Nov. 12 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Kits will contain academic materials that your child will need to be successful during the second quarter of learning for all subject areas. Once you arrive at the Intermediate School, please drive to the front of the school, walk in, and tell volunteers the name and grade of you child(ren).
