We are in need of a member (2 would be best) that would be interested in learning the ins & outs of the pigeon house for the shoots. Requirements: must be willing to learn, must be efficient with counting money, must be trustworthy with money, must be organized and must be able to stay for the whole event roughly 8am to 5pm. Full disclosure: this house gets busy right away in the morning and there are many different options a shooter can choose. When the event gets underway it does slow down aside from keeping records from the cards the shooters provide. At the end of the event it gets busy again to pay out winnings to shooters. We are looking for at least 1 member who is willing to commit to this on the first Sunday in June yearly. If this is something you are willing to commit to, please respond to this post to let us know. Thank you!

With Pennsylvania’s deer archery season opening statewide this SATURDAY, October 3, 2020, we wanted to remind our hunters of Pennsylvania’s new purple paint law.... This law gives landowners the option of using purple paint, rather than signs, to post their properties and alert others that lands are private, and trespassing isn’t permitted. Remember to always ask for permission before entering private property. If given permission, please be respectful and follow the landowner’s restrictions for hunting on their property. Read more about the purple paint law on page 19 of your 2020-21 hunting and trapping digest https://bit.ly/2YKmEBN.

This year will feature the first-ever regulated big-game SUNDAY hunting opportunities in Pennsylvania! Due to a change in state law, big game hunting will be pe...rmitted on the following dates: November 15 for archery deer hunting; November 22 for bear hunting; and November 29 for deer hunting during regular firearms season. In addition to deer rifle season opening on November 28, we hope Sunday hunting will provide more opportunities for hunters to get out this year. What separates us from the animals, what separates us from the chaos, is our ability to mourn people we’ve never met.

OPENING DAY for Pennsylvania’s statewide AND junior squirrel season is this Saturday, Sept. 12. This is to provide more opportunities for hunters to harvest squ...irrels across the state. During the season, hunters can harvest up to six squirrels daily. Squirrels are the most popular small-game species hunted by mentored youth in Pennsylvania. It’s a great way to get new hunters into the woods! Colin is pictured here, last fall, with his grandfather, Paul, on State Game Lands 37 in Tioga County. This photo was from Colin’s first-ever squirrel hunt! Who is planning to take someone new hunting for squirrels this season?

Due to Covid many fire companies have had to be creative with their fundraising efforts. Some host food events and some are even hosting online raffles. If you would like to see what the fire companies are offering in the way of good food or raffle items, please like their page(s) so that you can see their posts/events.
