We want to give a huge shout-out to Suzette Ortiz and AMLA for their three, incredible visits to the Middle School. We have learned so much about music and how it relates to our Hispanic Heritage. Thank you for this fun learning experience!

Please bring in a pair of NEW socks to donate to our local homeless shelters. Drop off on any school day before 4 pm at the High School Main Entrance. You will receive 1 hour of community service for every 2 pairs of socks. We will limit the maximum amount of hours at 25 hours. In addition, we want to add some fun to Socktober by sharing photos of you with your snazzy socks. On Wednesday October 21st, we will have PINK Out - Wear Pink Socks in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and on Wednesday October 28th, we will have Spooky Sock Day. Thank you for your support! We are excited to be able to bless our community in this way.

"AMLA did an awesome job presenting on the theme of African Rhythms in Latin Music. Ms. Susette Ortiz provided historical context of the various forms of musical fusion, while playing instruments from different countries in Latin America and Africa to provide a visual and an auditory demonstration to our students. My students gained a deeper understanding of the term fusion in music and how African rhythms and roots influence various traditional genres of Latin music (bomba and plena from Puerto Rico, and rumba and son cubano). The students danced and asked relevant questions to Ms. Ortiz to which she offered insight based on her wholesome experience as an artist. We are grateful for having the opportunity to collaborate with AMLA. " - Ms. Vicioso, EAMS Spanish Teacher
