Covid-19 Update: With the very large spike in local, state and national Covid-19 cases, we have decided to return to a "curbside pickup" for the month of December. We will reevaluate monthly and adjust accordingly. The safety and health of our clients and volunteers remain our top priority. We ask our clients to continue to wear a mask, even for curbside pickup.... We will continue to be a "client choice pantry" by asking our clients their likes/dislikes/household food allergies and packing their food order accordingly. Our clients will still receive the same amount of food that they would if they were shopping. Clients must still call to make their monthly appointment, where they will be given a 15 minute window to pick up their order. In addition, the Cupboard volunteers will continue to wear masks, quarantine donations, and clean/sanitize based on the same protocols that we have been using since the pandemic began in March. Only Cupboard volunteers will be allowed inside the Cupboard while we are doing the "curbside pickup only" process. If you are interested in donating to the Cupboard during the month of December, please drop off your donations in our 24/7 donation shed located outside of our building (immediately to your left if you pull into the parking lot from Washington Street). If it is a large donation, if it includes perishables or glass containers, or if you need a receipt, please drop off your donations on Wednesdays or Saturdays between 9:00am-12:30pm, at our main Cupboard entrance by ringing the door bell (street side, the door will have a yellow sign out in front of it). Thank you to our clients, volunteers and donors for your patience and understanding. We will continue to monitor Covid-19 as we have been since March and we will adjust future plans accordingly. Be safe E-town! #etowncares #maskup

The second round of stimulus checks are starting to hit bank accounts around the country. We wanted to send out another reminder that the stimulus checks DO NOT count towards your monthly/weekly financial thresholds to qualify for help at the Community Cupboard. If you are a Community Cupboard client, please put your stimulus money towards other financial needs and continue to schedule your monthly appointment at the Cupboard. We are here to help :) If you are not a curr...ent client, and live in Elizabethtown, Rheems or Bainbridge, and you are in need of food, please call 717 361 8149 (option 1) to see if you qualify. #etowncares

On Saturday, we held our 4th annual holiday meal giveaway! Due to the pandemic this year, we decided to do a drive-thru pickup event to keep clients and volunteers safe. We missed visiting with our clients during the event (and the carolers and hot cocoa), but we still had the Christmas spirit :) We want to thank multiple people for making our holiday meal event a success this year. Thank you to Lancaster County Project for the Needy (LCPN) for once again providing the tur...keys. Thank you Elizabethtown Area HUB leadership team for helping to organize, make reminder phone calls and hand out the meals on Saturday, your help was greatly appreciated! We wanted to send a big thank you to Elizabethtown Mennonite Church for hosting the event and for providing mulitiple items for the "fixin's bag". Your hospitality and donations were very much appreciated! Thank you to St. Paul's United Methodist Church for your donation of gravy! Last, but definitely not least, we want to thank GIANT Food Stores for donating the tote bags used for the fixin's as well as your donation of stuffing, applesauce, instant potatoes, and icing for our cake donations. They also gave us a tremendous amount of donations from a food drive they held in November (pictured below). THANK YOU GIANT! #etowncares

Clients of the Community Cupboard: With the announcement that Lancaster County is moving to ‘Green’ today, we plan to return to our shopping process beginning July 1, but with several mandatory safety protections in place. What does this mean? Please read on. COVID-19 has not gone away, but our state and local officials believe that we have been doing a good job of stopping the spread. These are the rules we will continue to use beginning July 1:...Continue reading
