We are incredibly grateful for Marie Martorano for bringing the Caribbean vibe to Germantown on a bitter cold day. She used her stimulus check to support a local black owned restaurant and feed 100 guests. Our guests enjoyed fresh Jamaican cuisine of curry brown stew, barbecue, macaroni and cheese, cabbage and potato salad. Today Face to Face was a designated site for the Philadlephia Office of Homeless Services to participate in the POINT IN TIME COUNT. This helps ensure persons experiencing homelessness, couch surfing or staying with friends/relatives are counted. TODAY we welcomed our guests INSIDE our building for the first time in 7 months. Our facility was physically adapted to ensure the safety of the guests and staff. The legal, health and social services assisted a limited number of guests on a modified schedule. In the kitchen, our staff returned to making homemade meals. A heartfelt thank you to Garces Group and Peachtree Catering & Events who have been partnering with us to provide grab and go meals in Germantown. The Garces Group donated meals every Monday since April and Peachtree Catering donated meals every Thursday and Friday since July. With their help, we have served over 16,000 since the start of the pandemic. Thanks to Step up to the Plate PHL and Food Connect for making this partnership possible. Our chef team will be back in the kitchen on Monday preparing fresh, nutritious meals. From September 22nd to September 24th census takers focused on counting people experiencing homelessness by visiting shelters, soup kitchens, and mobile food vans, as well previously identified outdoor locations and other places where people are known to sleep. Face to Face was happy to have a team of census takers count approximately 100 people. The 2020 Census will determine congressional representation, inform hundreds of billions in federal funding every year, and provide data that will impact communities for the next decade. #everybodycounts #germantown #philadelphia #facetofacegermantown

The City of Philadelphia has made a significant change to the amount of RENTAL ASSISTANCE FUNDING that is available for Phase 2 of the COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program. Now, RENT CAN BE PAID UP TO $1500.00. Contact Anna Brickman, Director of Face to Face Legal Center if you need help applying for the rental assistance.

We are excited to see Mercy Neighborhood Ministries of Philadelphia, Inc. preschoolers back in our building this week for the start of their school year. Our family liaison welcomed all the families back too. She will connect them to our legal, health and social services as needed.
