The Meat Sheet: Last Call for Easter Meats Edition! Yep, we're heading full steam into the Easter holiday next weekend, so this is your last chance to claim a ham or leg of lamb for your holiday meal! Be sure to consider these other tasty options as well:... Not necessarily Spring or Easter Holiday related (though it totally could be!), we have Cottage Bacon new in the webstore this week! This bacon is made from the pork shoulder instead of the belly, so it's a bit leaner if that's your thing. Use it anywhere you'd use belly bacon...as a breakfast side, on top of sandwiches or burgers, as a midnight snack --because why not?? Greetings SteadHeads! Spring makes it's official appearance this week, and we couldn't be more excited! Just beware the Ides of March on Monday, ok?? Check out these "Must See" items for the week!... It's time to order Easter hams! We have a solid supply of our boneless, hickory smoked hams reserved for the Easter holiday, but they will sell out! Be sure to claim one for yourself here ! We have 3 different sizes available, 1-2 lbs, 3-5lbs, and 6-8 lbs--just the right size for any gathering! This is just a preorder for now--we'll collect the balance when you pick up your ham around April 1. Also for Easter or Passover meals, we have plenty of our own Rettland Farm lamb available! We have small leg of lamb roasts; larger whole leg of lamb, or lamb shanks. Plus, a really great supply of lamb chops and sausages for any occasion! One thing that I learned since opening the butcher shop is that Smoked Kielbasa is an Easter tradition for many of you. With the new smokehouse, we are producing our smoked kielbasa in quantity, and will NOT sell out before Easter! But go ahead and order some this week...you know, as a test run! In non-meat news, we are so happy to have cheese from our famous friends and colleagues at Caputo Brothers Creamery--yes, they of Good Morning America and History Channel fame! That means that NOW is a really good time to reserve your Thanksgiving turkey,that essential centerpiece of your Thanksgiving table! . . Turkeys will be pasture raised here at @rettlandfarm, as well as by other local pastured poultry farmers. Turkeys are broad breasted breeds All turkeys are antibiotic free--no antibiotics, ever! All turkeys will be processed under USDA inspection here on the farm Turkeys will be fresh, never frozen, at the time of pick up Turkeys will be available for pick up at our shop in Gettysburg beginning Saturday November 21 Approximate weight range is 12-14 lbs, including giblets. Happy October Meaties! . . I'm happy to see October arrive. I'm not sure if it's because it's usually my favorite month (weather wise) of the year. OR, if it's because it means that 2020 is 75% over..... .... . In any case, we have a brand new Meat Sheet for this week. Something for everyone in this edition! . . Our new cooler/freezer arrangement is going to lend itself to sharing more of our sausages with you--last weekend we had SIXTEEN different sausages available! . . Adding to that list this week, be sure to check out our chicken Weisswurst for yourOktoberfest inspired dining! Weisswurst is a traditional German style sausage, but we've made this batch our pastured chickens instead of veal, as is common in traditional recipes. . . We also have our Korean BBQ sausage made with our own pastured turkeys! This odd pairing is a really delicious way to enjoy our popular Korean sausage using non-pork ingredients. Hello Farmsteaders! . . Hope you had an enjoyable holiday weekend, full of fantastic meaty (and non-meaty) eats! .... . Your Meat Sheet for the week has arrived... . . Cast your gaze upon the rib chop section of the sheet...we have added a few variations on the standard pork chop this week: Sweet and Spicy Korean BBQ, Sweet Tea Brined, and Coffee Crusted! We featured some pics on the Instagram page last week, if you want to give them a look first! . . We also have 2 new pork sausages on the list this week, Spicy Tuscan and the return of Chili Verde. Both of these have some mild heat, ready to spice up your Italian or Mexican inspired meals this week! . . Last, be sure to consider a smoked turkey leg! We cured them with our city ham cure and smoked for about 2 hours or so. They would be delicious as a seasoning component or as a stand alone protein on your plate! . .
